Benefits of Coconut Oil: My Experience

FullSizeRender.jpgHello Beauties!

Today I thought I’d share some of the many benefits of using beautiful, organic coconut oil. Now, if you’re like me and you’re obsessed with anything coconut, you will absolutely love this product. I cannot go a day without using coconut oil in my routine, as it is so multi purpose. If you really want to get the full health benefits of coconut oil, you must get cold pressed extra virgin organic coconut oil. I swear by Niulife Coconut Oil that I found at a health food shop and can also be ordered online here. What I love about this brand is that this coconut oil is certified fair trade, certified organic, unrefined, vegan, non gmo, and much more!

Can we just talk about the delicious smell of this coconut oil…it’s absolutely divine! A must have for any coconut lover. The size may seem small, and you can order larger sizes, but in my experience I take around a full year to use up this whole jar and would rather have a smaller size so that I can use it all up before it expires (even though it does have a long shelf life). Keep in mind, that in warmer temperatures, the oil will liquify, and in cooler months, it will become a pure white solid.

Coconut oil is known to be antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal, serving many health benefits. Coconut oil is also the key ingredient in one of my favourite makeup lines, RMS Beauty!

I’ll start off by listing the many benefits of using coconut oil below:

-Healthy cooking oil

-Daily health/energy supplement

-Luscious body/hair oil

-Luxurious moisturiser and massage oil

-Make-up remover

-Baby oil: skin, rashes, etc

-Supports your immune system

-Keeps skin youthful, smooth and healthy

….and the list goes on!

My Experience:

Moisturiser: I’ve heard that using coconut oil as a face moisturiser either breaks people out or keeps their skin clear. Unfortunately, my skin type does clog up when using heavy oils, so I don’t use coconut oil on my face. However, it does make a fantastic lip balm for dry, cracked lips! I also suffered from bug bites all over my legs at one point and used only coconut oil everyday and they magically disappeared so quickly and without a trace left behind. It also soaks in really quick and helps to even out the skin tone. The smell of coconut also lingers on your skin afterwards, leaving it baby soft. I do agree that coconut oil is fantastic for any irritation, bites, and rashes. On this note, it is also fantastic for calming down razor burn and getting rid of those nasty bumps.

Oil Pulling: I also have started to get into oil pulling (swishing oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes), which you can read up on about all the health benefits. I mainly wanted to do this to whiten my teeth and keep my mouth clean, and I do notice a difference in the whiteness of my teeth and after one use I notice the enamel on my front teeth to look significantly better!

Overall, if you’re looking for an all purpose product that can offer you several health and beauty benefits and doesn’t cost you much, I would highly recommend using certified organic cold pressed extra virgin coconut oil. You won’t regret it!

Benefits of Rooibos Tea: My Experience

Screen Shot 2016-07-02 at 12.44.38 pm

Hello Beauties!

If you’re anything like me and you are a tea-a-holic, I’m always on the look out for the next holy grail tea. I think I may have found it! Rooibos tea (or red bush tea) is a wonderful bright red medicinal, herbal beverage that is obtained from the Aspalathus linearis bush plant, native to South Africa. Rooibos tea is actually considered a herb, and not a true tea.

The taste is very unique and hard to describe…it’s almost nutty. It’s nothing like I’ve ever had before, so it took me some getting used to, but it’s something I crave now. It’s definitely a pleasant taste, not overpowering at all and pairs well with a lot of meals. You can add vanilla or honey to sweeten it. I’m someone who cannot stand tea that is too sweet or strong, and Rooibos tea fits perfectly for my taste buds! Make sure to get certified organic African red tea or Rooibos tea. You can get loose leaf or tea bags (which I prefer).

I’m someone who enjoys and craves tea all day long, and so I was looking for something that was caffeine free (unlike green tea) but had all the benefits, if not more, than my beloved green tea. Rooibos tea has quickly become my holy grail, go to tea. It has countless amazing health and skin benefits that I have personally experienced and thought I’d share with you.

So here is my experience…

I’m generally an anxious person who struggles to fall asleep at night. Because I was consuming so much green tea per day, my caffeine intake did not help with my insomnia. Rooibos tea is actually recommended by doctors to their patients who suffer from insomnia as it’s completely caffeine free and helps to reduct stress levels and relax the body before bed. Although I still do have some restless nights, overall a cup of this tea before bed does help to relax me significantly!

Although I am a healthy, young woman, I do suffer from weak bones, especially in the winter months as I don’t drink dairy milk. Rooibos tea is rich in calcium, manganese and fluoride minerals that assist in maintaining good bone structure and stronger teeth. I can say that this is completely true. No longer, do I hear and feel my bones “creaking,” especially in my knees.

Another amazing benefit of drinking this miracle tea is for the skin and anti ageing. My skin is absolutely in love with this tea! I have dry, sensitive and breakout prone skin, so anything that will help to hydrate it is a winner for me. I’m always on the lookout for a tea that has skin and anti ageing benefits. It is recommended to drink around 6 cups per day to see any results, which is very true. My skin clears up quicker, is more hydrated and soft, breaks out less, texture and skin tone is more even, and the list goes on. It also provides my skin with a lovely, healthy glow, that almost blurs any lines on the face. This is due to the alpha hydroxy acid and zinc content of Rooibos tea, which are very good for the skin. Not only are Alpha Hydroxy Acids, such as Glycolic Acid, naturally occurring in Rooibos tea, they are also found in skincare products, such as peels (the Environ Intensive Toner is amazing) to treat acne, wrinkles, and provide the skin with a healthy glow!

These are just the main benefits that I have experienced with this tea and would highly recommend everyone to try this beautiful tea and see the results for yourself! There are many articles online that have a comprehensive list of health and skin benefits that Rooibos tea provides. I hope this post helps anyone out there struggling with minor skin problems and love healing the skin naturally!

Ilia Beauty “Pink Kashmir” Lipstick Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the gorgeous certified organic lipstick from Ilia Beauty in the colour Pink Kashmir (limited edition). I decided to invest more in natural, certified organic lipsticks because whatever you put on your lips, you eventually end up ingesting. With all the chemicals that are contained within mainstream lipsticks, women ingest around 7 pounds of lipstick a year, which is very alarming! This is the second brand of certified organic lipstick I have yet tried, and I must say I am blown away by the quality. Not only are the ingredients of the highest quality, but it also performs as well, if not better than most mainstream lipsticks. What I love about Ilia beauty as a brand, is that they seamlessly blend organic with modern fashion, catering to the everyday, stylish woman.

Founder of Ilia beauty, Sasha Plavsic’s philosophy:

“Somebody recently said to me, that because it’s organic it’s good for you, and it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work as well as the mainstream stuff – I intend to change their mind.”

Description on Website:

“Inspired by the colours of India and Pakistan, Pink Kashmir is ILIA’s standout shade for spring and summer.

ILIA Lipstick combines organic ingredients with contemporary colours that can be layered to create your own personalised shade.”

Colour: This colour is very vibrant, but not too neon on the lips. It’s a very cool toned pink, which unfortunately doesn’t go with my fair skin colour. With one swipe, the colour is very pigmented and perfect for the spring and summer.

Texture/Feel: This is by far the best texture of any organic lipstick I have yet to try (beside Bite Beauty). It is very creamy and conditioning to the lips. It never dries them out, yet sets to a nice semi-matte.

Size: 3.5 g

Price: AUD $34.00. Although this lipstick is quite pricey, it will last you forever! It’s so pigmented and you can’t beat the high quality ingredients contained within it.

Packaging: I love the aluminium packaging! It’s very sleek, modern, and high quality.

Longevity: Not only is there a generous amount of product, there is so much pigmentation, that this lipstick will last you forever. It also lasts quite a long time on my lips as it dries to a semi-matte. I would say it lasts for me around 6-7 hours, considering I lick my lips a lot!

Recommend? Definitely! Although I’m not a fan of the colour on me, the actual formulation is quite nice.

Rating: 3/5

Where to Buy: http://iamnaturalstore.com.au. Unfortunately this shade is limited edition and sold out at the moment! However you can keep looking back on the website or search for it on the Ilia Beauty website.
