Environ Intensive Revival Masque Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing another holy grail skincare product, Environ’s Intensive Revival Masque. What I love about Environ is the minimal, but highly concentrated and effective ingredients used in their products to achieve maximum results. This is my second tub of this masque, which goes to show how much I love this product! I’m very picky when it comes to skincare as I expect to see results either within the first use or a couple of uses. This product did not disappoint me at all! I was recommended by my aesthetician to try this product because my skin is really dry, uneven, dull and I needed help to lighten some red marks on my face. My skin type is dry/sensitive breakout prone and in the winter time it is extremely dry. This product really helped to not only add moisture to my skin and help reduce redness and my smile lines, but also was very effective in instantly brightening, tightening, and gradually fading the red marks on my face. This product is best used during autumn/winter when the skin is very dry.

This masque has been described as a “facelift in a bottle,” because of its ability to reduce lines and wrinkles, lighten pigmentation marks, tighten and smooth the skin, giving a youthful radiant appearance. It uses three main acids to achieve these results, which include Asiatic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Mandelic Acid. As I’m very breakout prone, I’m always hesitant to try new products out, but now I know to trust Environ skincare. It never breaks me out, but rather helps to significantly reduce any redness and inflammation! After the first use, my complexion was instantly brighter and more even, adding a nice youthful glow. My pores looked smaller and my face felt tighter. Because of all the acids in this product, there is a sunburn alert and you should always wear a broad spectrum sunscreen. I would recommend the Jane Iredale Purepressed Base, which is a sunscreen, foundation, and concealer all in one. A tip is to use this mask right before makeup application if you have trouble with powder foundation creasing and accentuating smile lines, as I experienced none of this after application!

Description: The Environ® Intensive Revival Masque has a unique combination of revolutionary ingredients
Asiatic, Mandelic and Lactic Acid that make the skin appear more luminous, smoother and

Key Ingredients:
• Asiatic Acid
• Lactic Acid
• Mandelic Acid

• Research over many years has shown that Asiatic Acid promotes the synthesis of growth
factors that are important in the regenerative processes of the skin.
• Lactic Acid is a powerful promoter of the natural hydrating factors of the skin.
• Mandelic Acid works in synergy with Lactic and Asiatic Acid in creating a smoother, younger
and more refined skin appearance.

Aqua (Water), Pentylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Propylene Glycol, PEG-40 Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Mandelic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Ceteareth-20, Disodium EDTA.

I cleanse my face with the Environ Interactive Cleansing Gel, and then exfoliate with the Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub so that the mask can penetrate deeper into the skin. Apply a thin layer of the mask all over face, neck and décolleté. I was recommended to leave the mask on between 20-30 minutes, however if you really need the moisture to come back into the skin, you can leave it on for longer, but I find that 30 minutes is long enough. After the time is up, I like to rinse with tepid water with a cotton pad. Do not use any chemical exfoliating toners or products that contain any active acid ingredients as the acids in the mask will already be exfoliating dead skin cells overnight. All you need to do is follow up with a gentle and soothing moisturiser. I like to use the Dr Spiller Collagen Creme, which is fantastic at locking in moisture. I use this mask about 1-2 times a week. When you first start using this product, because it is so strong, you should start off with using it once a week, and then slowly build to 2-3 times a week.

Results for me were instant. I noticed my skin was smoother, brighter and more even. My skin felt tighter and more plump. The smile lines I had were becoming less apparent with each use. Your skin does peel a little overnight if you have any dry patches or scabs. This mask is great at healing any wounds at a faster pace. This is especially good for large pores around the nose! Obviously the fading of the red marks will take a little time, but I saw a significant reduction within the fourth use. On nights I don’t use this mask, I do use the Environ Alpha Toner Forte, which has Glycolic Acid, so that is also helping to lighten up the red marks.

It definitely has a strong, potent scent because of all the acids, although it isn’t unbearable.

The texture is very light, watery, creamy and easy to spread all over the face. It’s whitish in colour, although goes clear on face. Once it starts to slightly dry (although still stays creamy) on the face, you can feel your skin tightening, but it isn’t so tight that you can’t move it. It’s not uncomfortable, however if you have any open wounds, it will sting for a little but will go away very shortly.

My Skin Type and Who is this for?

My skin type is dry to very dry (in the winter especially), sensitive and breakout prone. It’s very uneven, dull, and fair in complexion. This mask is suitable for uneven skin texture and sun damaged skin.

Shelf Life:

24 months unopened 10 – 12 weeks period after opening.

Packaging: 50ml (1.7 fl oz) jar with special spatula.

Price: AUD $120

Rating: 5/5

Recommend? 100% Yes! Although it is expensive, it will last you a while, and you will see instant results. This would most definitely benefit women with more mature skin or very dry, uneven skin.

Where to Buy: Due to the strength and specificity of each Environ product, you will have to purchase this at an Environ Stockist. To search for one near you, click here.

Jane Iredale Lip Pencil in “Spice” Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing my new staple lip liner by Jane Iredale in the colour, Spice. Ever since my favourite lip liner by Victoria’s Secret in the colour “blushing nude” was discontinued, I have been on the hunt for an all natural alternative. Although Jane Iredale’s “Spice” lip liner isn’t an exact dupe, it is a pretty close match in that it is a wearable nude pink/brown shade. I have very fair skin and this lip liner is a perfect nude colour, although I couldn’t go any darker than this shade otherwise it would look unnatural on me. Being a natural mineral pigmented lip liner, I knew it wouldn’t last super long on my lips but I do tend to lick my lips a lot. However, it does last quite a while and is very highly pigmented. The only thing is that I wish this lip liner were retractable as sometimes when sharpening the pencil, it can break a little but not too badly. Jane Iredale is definitely one of my top mineral skincare makeup brands that I will always continue to use, and I would recommend you give this beautiful lip liner a try!

Description on website:

“The definition of smooth”
the look refined
the feel creamy

“Our Lip Pencils are soft enough to fill in your lips easily but durable enough to provide a long-lasting base to the color you layer over them.”

  • Mineral pigment-based lip pencil with a soft formula that won’t tug at delicate skin.
  • Made with conditioning oils and waxes.
  • Soft formula lends itself to blending and being used as a lip base.
  • Use a jane iredale sharpener to maintain a rounded point – other sharpeners will split the wood.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. [+/- (May Contain) Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Manganese Violet (Ci 77742), Mica, Carmine (Ci 75470)]

*Most of the shades are vegan and gluten free, however some contain carmine, which is listed on the Jane Iredale website.

I would describe spice as a pink/brown warm nude colour, which leans more on the brown side. I would say spice is a universal nude lip liner shade that can work for a variety of different skin tones. There are also 12 other shades to choose from:

Pigmentation: You only need to use a light hand with this lip liner as it is very pigmented.

Packaging: As I said I do prefer retractable lip liners, however the packaging is very luxe and sturdy so it doesn’t bother me as much.

IMG_5713 IMG_5714

Texture/feel: This product is definitely creamy and glides on the lips smoothly, but it is also hard enough so that it lasts for some time on the lips. I feel that the consistency is good, however if you decide to fill in your entire lip, be sure to use a good lip balm beforehand.

Longevity: I have had this lip liner for quite a while and it has lasted me a very long time and I am not even halfway done! Because it is so pigmented and creamy, you don’t have to use a lot or push down too hard. The colour also lasts a good amount of time on the lips for a natural mineral lip liner.

Price: around AU $20.

Size: 0.04 oz

Rating: 4.5/5

Recommend? Yes. For a natural mineral pigmented lip liner that is vegan and gluten free (for most shades, except this one), this is a high quality product that is definitely worth a try.

Valentine’s Day Makeup Look (Using Mostly Natural Products)

Hello Beauties!

I have a Valentine’s Day look for you, inspired by Jessica Biel’s character in the movie, “Valentine’s Day.” This look uses mostly natural makeup, however if you don’t have access to most of the products mentioned, you can swap products for what you have already! I absolutely love her simple, yet feminine look in the movie. The pink, flirtacious lips are definitely the main focus of this look. Whether you’re spending Valentine’s Day with loved ones, your boyfriend, or your girlfriends, this look is very versatile! Enjoy!

-Biel’s character wears a matte, but natural base. I would recommend the Jane Iredale PurePressed Base, with the Inika Kabuki Brush. Not only can it build up to full coverage (using the Jane Iredale Flocked Sponge), it looks very natural and lasts a long time. It’s also made with natural mineral ingredients that are gentle and good for your skin! If you need to conceal any blemishes, only SPOT conceal with your favourite concealer.

-If you have any under eye circles or simply want to brighten up the under eye area, I recommend the RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up. Not only is it very creamy and moisturizing, it’s certified organic with healing coconut oil to help nourish the under eye area, erasing any fine lines.

-To help set the RMS Un-Cover Up, I love using the RMS “Un” Powder. It’s made of 100% Silica, and it is VERY soft. It helps to lock the un cover up in place, as well as to help it not crease throughout the day. It’s also fantastic for laugh lines or any where you have wrinkle or crease. If you don’t have access to this product, you can use a little bit of the Jane Iredale Purepressed base on a small brush and sweep it under the eye area.

-Biel’s cheeks are of a very peachy, pink shade (though more on the peachy side). I would recommend the Inika Mineral Blush in Peachy Keen. Though this blush is VERY pigmented, it can be applied very sheerly with a light hand. Not only is it a mineral blush crushed from the Earth, it’s performance and colour are truly amazing! It gives you that natural healthy, radiant glow from within.

-Although Biel doesn’t appear to have any black eyeliner on her bottom waterline, her top waterline is very defined and dark. I would recommend the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray, under the lashes on your top waterline. It gives your eyes that dark, feline sultry look, perfect for Valentine’s Day. If you wanted to add some definition to your bottom lash line, lightly smudge a light-medium brown eyeshadow.

-Biel definitely has a cat like, feminine eye look in this movie. I would suggest using the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black. The colour is a very beautiful rich black, that lasts on the eye all day. The applicator is also very easy to use, so you can control the thickness of your desired cat eye. Cat eyes, though a simple look, it can be very sexy, sultry and feminine.

-My favourite all time mascara! If you want those full, false looking lashes, this mascara is for you! The Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara, gives you those feminine, flirty lashes, perfect for Valentine’s Day!

-This step is optional if your not a lip liner girl, however the Victoria’s Secret Lip Liner in Blushing Nude is my favourite. It’s a perfect rosy nude colour that blends with your natural lip colour, to give you a bit more definition and shape.

-The RMS Beauty LipShine in Sacred is a pretty spot on colour for Jessica Biel’s lip colour in the movie. It’s the perfect fuschia, hot pink romantic colour for Valentine’s Day. It glides on effortlessly, made with certified organic ingredients, so you won’t be ingesting any nasty chemicals! It compliments the Inika Mineral Blush in “Peachy Keen” very well. It is very pigmented so you only need a small amount. This product is definitely a must have! If you can’t get your hands on this products, other similar dupes include; Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom or the Maybelline Baby Lips in Baby Pink.

Ilia Beauty’s Lip Gloss in Heartbeat, is made with certified organic ingredients that help to nourish the lips. This colour is a hot pink, reddish colour that is sheer-medium buildable in colour. It compliments RMS Beauty’s Lip Shine in Sacred PERFECTLY. It is my go to lip combination. It’s not overpowering on the lips as it looks very natural. This colour is perfect for those girls, like me, who are intimidated by wearing a red lip. It gives you enough colour, but not too much to the point that you are self conscious about the colour.

-The Victoria’s Secret Pink “Sweet and Flirty” Body Mist, is a perfect scent for Valentine’s Day. It’s definitely the scent for those girly girls who like the sweeter fragrances!

Jane Iredale So-Bronze 1 Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Jane Iredale Bronzer in So-Bronze 1 (the lightest shade). This is my first natural mineral bronzer that I have tried and I absolutely LOVE! It gives you that perfect sun kissed look without looking muddy or orange on my fair complexion. It literally looks like you’ve come back from the beach or a tropical holiday. Your skin is naturally bronzed and glowing. What I also love about this product (and Jane Iredale as a brand) is that it is made with quality ingredients, infusing nature with skincare makeup that doesn’t irritate or breakout out my sensitive skin.

“Brush on cheeks, nose, chin and forehead for the ultimate, sun-kissed look.”

“So-Bronze® 1 is a classic terra-cotta color with tiny specks of gold mica-not to add sparkle, but to add glow.”

photo 1

Ingredients: Mica, Boron Nitride, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Pine Bark Extract, Pomegranate Extract, Isopropyl Jojobate. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Carmine.

Shade: The So-Bronze comes in 3 different shades; So-Bronze 1, So-Bronze 2, and the So-Bronze 3. So-Bronze 1 is very true to its description; a terra-cotta shade. There’s definitely a red tone to it, which is perfect in giving you that naturally sun burnt/sunkissed look. It’s perfect for fair-light skin tones. It’s also very pigmented, so a small amunt goes a long way. You can also detect the small specks of the gold mica, which looks like sparkle, however it’s not detected on your skin. It just gives you a radiant glow. It’s not a matte, but not a shimmer bronzer, just a good in between radiant natural bronzer.

Look: The look is very natural and sun kissed. You can’t even tell that you are wearing bronzer! Use a light hand with this, as it’s pigmented. Place on cheekbones, temples, forehead, chin, and on the top of your nose or all over for a healthy, radiant glow.

Jane Iredale PurePressed Base Review

It’s been a long time, but I have finally discovered my holy grail foundation! I cannot stress enough how much I love Jane Iredale’s skincare makeup line. I’ve always loved the idea of incorporating skincare into makeup, but have never found the right line for me until now. I was recommended this product by my lovely aesthetician, and I couldn’t be more happier with the results. It is the only foundation/mineral makeup that I have ever come across that not only doesn’t break me out, but it also heals any existing breakouts. Who doesn’t want that? We are always taught to never sleep with any makeup on, however I have a few times with this on alone, and let me tell you it miraculously shrinks and heals any breakouts you have overnight! I have heard the same experience from other people as well! It also held up pretty well and still looked decent the next morning. It is just utterly amazing. Jane Iredale’s Purepressed base is a perfect combination of skincare mineral makeup, catering to people with sensitive and breakout prone skin without containing the nasty chemicals. I always get compliments when I wear this, so that’s when you know a product is amazing!

Description on the website:

The look is sheer and semi-matte. The feel is weightless. Trust our mineral foundation to look like your skin, only better. Provides Broad Spectrum SPF 20 and UVA P++ protection that is water resistant for up to 40 minutes. Provides a foundation, concealer, sunscreen and active skin care benefits all in one.”

I couldn’t agree more! It is a multitasking mineral foundation, with the added benefits of good ingredients for your skin.

The foundation comes packaged in a gorgeous sleek gold compact with the Iredale signature “i” that is also pressed within the foundation. The great thing about the packaging is that you only have to buy the compact once, and then you just buy the powder refills. This is amazing as it’s not only environmentally friendly, but you are also saving money!

Ingredients: Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide 14%, Zinc Oxide 3%. Ingredients: Mica, Boron Nitride, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Plankton Extract, Algae Extract, Pinus Strobus (Pine) Bark Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, Chromium Oxide Greens.

I love the minimalistic and simplistic ingredient list containing only the best high quality skincare ingredients, suitable for people with problematic, sensitive skin like me.

Shades: The Jane Iredale Purepressed base comes in a range of shades from warm, pink and neutral undertones. It’s quite difficult at first to choose your shade unless you’re certain about the undertone of your skin. Like me, if you have pinkish skin which burns easy, you should go for warm shades or yellow based undertones (Jane Iredale has a great shade chart separating shades into undertone categories). If you have a spa near you, i’m sure you will get colour matched to the right shade! Or you could order samples from Ebay, which is what I did. There are 24 beautiful shades, ranging from the lightest for porcelain skin to the darkest skin. After several trial and errors, I found my perfect shade, which is Warm Silk (this is noted as the universal shade that most people are). It’s not too yellow or too pink, it quite neutral with a little yellow undertone, perfect for minimising redness.

Feel: Very lightweight, but don’t put too much on, as with any powder product it will eventually feel heavy and look cakey. If you buff it into the skin very well, it is very transfer resistant! It is definitely a moisturizing powder, perfect for dry skin like mine!

Wear: Very longwearing. I’d say it looks great still after 8-10 hours! It is also water resistant, so if you get a little bit of water splashed onto your face, just gently dab it, not swipe, and the foundation still looks great and doesn’t budge!

Look: Fresh, youthful, surprisingly not powdery unless too much is applied. The foundation looks better the longer you wear it as it sinks in and blends with your moisturiser. However if your skin is really dry try using a hydrating setting spray. My favourite is Kora Organics Balancing Rose Mist to melt the powder into your skin getting rid of that powdery look. It definitely looks like skin, but better. As for having a flashback in photos, I think it does give a slight white cast due to the SPF in this.

Price: I’d say the price is very reasonable, but definitely on the higher end. When you think about it, your skin is your largest organ and it absorbs around 60% of what you put on it. If you want beautiful, healthy skin, you will have to spend a bit to get the best quality ingredients. However, the price is worth it, because it also lasts quite a while and you don’t have to keep repurchasing the whole compact, just the refills which are cheaper! If I was to spend my money on anything it would definitely be skincare and foundation.

Coverage: The coverage is really dependent on the tools you use and how you apply. Adding thin layers with patting motions (if you have dry skin) will definitely get you fuller coverage. Using circular buffing motions also helps to add more coverage and push product in a particular place. It can range from a sheer to light coverage, and can be layered and built up to a full, flawless face. This powder covers redness amazingly, however if you have any dark purple scars, you may need a little concealer. Over time of using this powder alone, you will find you will use less and less, as it really helps to heal the skin. I no longer get those huge, painful bumps under my skin from using heavy liquid/cream foundations, as this powder has really helped to clear my skin dramatically. A healthy diet and a good skincare routine is also essential to clear skin (here is a link to my skincare routine). I can now feel confident wearing just this powder, instead of my previous routine of layers of liquid foundation, concealer and powder.

Application: When you first transition from liquid foundation to a mineral powder foundation, it can take some practice on applying the right amount of product in achieving the look you desire. I personally love applying the Purepressed base with the Inika mineral kabuki brush. It works perfectly in achieving both a light or full coverage application. However, if this is out of your price range or reach, any dense kabuki brush will do. Another great application tool is the Jane Iredale flocked sponge (review here), which can be used to dab a bit more product onto certain areas for a fuller coverage. The way I apply this powder to achieve a flawless look, is I first buff the powder all over the face as my first layer, and then I use a patting and pressing motion for the second and final layer. I would also suggest if you have drier skin, to really use a thick, tacky moisturizer underneath so the powder has something to stick to and will give you more coverage. Because this product is so multipurpose and buildable in coverage, you can get your makeup done so much quicker.

Recommend: Absolutely Yes!

Who would like it: Anyone who has sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts, and looking more a more natural mineral foundation. Someone who likes either a sheer/light coverage or some days needs a full, flawless coverage. This powder foundation is perfect for people who want on the go quick application and a multipurpose product (Foundation, sunscreen, and concealer all in one). Coming from someone who used to wear thick full coverage liquid foundations, I am quite picky and this product has impressed me to the moon and back! This product was recommended to me by my beautician and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Jane Iredale Flocked Sponge

I have a range of good makeup brushes to use, but why I chose to purchase this makeup sponge, was because of it’s ability to create a full coverage application of my Jane Iredale Purepressed Base powder. The Jane Iredale website describes it as, “A sponge with a nap that glides across the skin. Applies and blends minerals like no other sponge.” I couldn’t agree more!

It’s made of synthetic (non-Latex) material, which helps to apply more coverage to your face, rather than soaking up all of the powder. It is very soft and plush when applied to the skin, not causing any irritation. The best way I have found to use this sponge, is to dab a bit into the powder, and press it lightly into the skin wherever you need extra coverage. I would be careful though to not go overboard and use too much as it could end up looking cakey. Overall, it makes the powder go on very seamlessly, covering any pimples or discolouration. The sponge will also last you a very long time, as it is washable, and you can use both sides to avoid any bacteria that may collect. If you have the Jane Iredale Purepressed base powder and you find that sometimes it may not give you the coverage you desire, I would highly suggest you invest in the flocked sponge as it will give you seamless full coverage!
