Jane Iredale Lip Definer in Nude

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Jane Iredale Lip Definer in the shade Nude. I am such a fan of Jane Iredale cosmetics and already use their lip definer in Spice (which is the exact shade of my lips). I was looking for a 90s brown Cindy Crawford lip liner look, and the lip pencil in nude is the perfect shade for that! This is the darkest shade I can go for me as I am very fair and Nude is about 2 shades darker than my natural lip colour. I would highly recommend this product as it’s not only packed with quality ingredients to nourish your lips, but it also performs incredibly well. I would recommend the shade Spice as your first purchase as I think it’s a more universal shade.

The give you that sexy 90s pout, add a lighter pink nude in the centre of the lips. I find that I have to use a very light hand with this as it’s very dark and pigmented for my skin tone.

There aren’t any official descriptions of the shades online, however I would describe Spice as a pink nude, whereas Nude is strictly a brown nude. Spice would suit a lot more skin tones than nude would, as it is a more universal shade.

You can definitely see in the swatches above that Spice has more of a pink undertone.

Description on Website:

Our Lip Pencils are soft enough to fill in your lips easily but durable enough to provide a long-lasting base to the color you layer over them.

I would say these lip pencils are more on the stiff side than creamy. They do glide on easily, however there isn’t much slip to them which I prefer as it means it will last a long time.

Details:

  • Mineral pigment-based lip pencil with a soft formula that won’t tug at delicate skin.
  • Made with conditioning oils and waxes.
  • Soft formula lends itself to blending and being used as a lip base.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. [+/- (May Contain) Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Manganese Violet (Ci 77742), Mica, Carmine (Ci 75470)].

*All shades are wheat free. The shade Nude is vegan, however Spice contains carmine.

Shades: 12 shades

Packaging: I love the sleek packaging, however I would prefer a twist up lip pencil as I’m lazy when it comes to sharpening.

Scent: There’s no particular scent besides the woody scent of the lip pencil.

Longevity: Because the formula is not super creamy, I find this lasts quite a while on my lips. However, don’t expect it to last all day.

Feel/Look: Definitely more on the stiff, matte side than creamy.

Size: 0.04 oz

Rating: 5/5

Jane Iredale Lip Pencil in “Spice” Review

232

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing my new staple lip liner by Jane Iredale in the colour, Spice. Ever since my favourite lip liner by Victoria’s Secret in the colour “blushing nude” was discontinued, I have been on the hunt for an all natural alternative. Although Jane Iredale’s “Spice” lip liner isn’t an exact dupe, it is a pretty close match in that it is a wearable nude pink/brown shade. I have very fair skin and this lip liner is a perfect nude colour, although I couldn’t go any darker than this shade otherwise it would look unnatural on me. Being a natural mineral pigmented lip liner, I knew it wouldn’t last super long on my lips but I do tend to lick my lips a lot. However, it does last quite a while and is very highly pigmented. The only thing is that I wish this lip liner were retractable as sometimes when sharpening the pencil, it can break a little but not too badly. Jane Iredale is definitely one of my top mineral skincare makeup brands that I will always continue to use, and I would recommend you give this beautiful lip liner a try!

Description on website:

“The definition of smooth”
the look refined
the feel creamy

“Our Lip Pencils are soft enough to fill in your lips easily but durable enough to provide a long-lasting base to the color you layer over them.”

  • Mineral pigment-based lip pencil with a soft formula that won’t tug at delicate skin.
  • Made with conditioning oils and waxes.
  • Soft formula lends itself to blending and being used as a lip base.
  • Use a jane iredale sharpener to maintain a rounded point – other sharpeners will split the wood.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. *Most of the shades are vegan and gluten free, however some contain carmine, which is listed on the Jane Iredale website.

I would describe spice as a pink/brown warm nude colour, which leans more on the brown side. I would say spice is a universal nude lip liner shade that can work for a variety of different skin tones. There are also 12 other shades to choose from:

lipdefinerwithswatches

Pigmentation: You only need to use a light hand with this lip liner as it is very pigmented.

Packaging: As I said I do prefer retractable lip liners, however the packaging is very luxe and sturdy so it doesn’t bother me as much.

Texture/feel: This product is definitely creamy and glides on the lips smoothly, but it is also hard enough so that it lasts for some time on the lips. I feel that the consistency is good, however if you decide to fill in your entire lip, be sure to use a good lip balm beforehand.

Longevity: I have had this lip liner for quite a while and it has lasted me a very long time and I am not even halfway done! Because it is so pigmented and creamy, you don’t have to use a lot or push down too hard. The colour also lasts a good amount of time on the lips for a natural mineral lip liner.

Price: around AU $20.

Size: 0.04 oz

Rating: 4.5/5

Recommend? Yes. For a natural mineral pigmented lip liner that is vegan and gluten free (for most shades, except this one), this is a high quality product that is definitely worth a try.
