KORA Organics Balancing Rose Mist Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the KORA Organics Balancing Rose Mist. I was looking for a rose mist that was really hydrating and dewy looking on the skin. I was given the KORA Organics Calming Lavender Mist as a gift however I found it broke me out (probably due to the lavender) as I have sensitive skin. I did really enjoy the scent of it as it was very calming and herbal so I decided to give the Rose mist a go since I know my skin loves rosewater and is great for people with sensitive skin. I love the look of my skin with this mist as it gives a really nice dewy look, however if you spritz a lot of it throughout the day without any makeup on, it can feel sticky especially on my eyelids which is really uncomfortable. However I found the rose mist to be less sticky than the lavender mist, and felt more refreshing. To fix this problem you could always just spritz less.

I mainly got this mist to make my mineral powder foundation (Jane Iredale Purepressed Base) look more dewy and hydrating during the colder months, which it does a fantastic job of. It also gets rid of any dry flakes you have on the skin without disturbing your makeup. If you feel like your powder foundation looks a bit heavy, this does a great job of making it look more natural. It also doesn’t break me out, and I noticed any existing pimples were reduced dramatically when using this. The ingredients in this mist are exceptional for dry, sensitive skin like mine. I noticed this mist didn’t contain as much or any essential oils that can irritate the skin. For my skin, spritzing 2-3 times a day is enough to see results. The packaging also frustrates me. The lid is very hard to open and the nozzle even broke off at one point. I do however love how fine the mist is, and how evenly it spreads across the face (which the Vanessa Megan one failed to do). I have since repurchased this again, and can now say this product is a holy grail and replaced my Vanessa Megan rosewater toner! I know this product is quite pricey and you can get plain rosewater anywhere, however I feel like the added ingredients in this product make it extra special.

Description on Website:

“A replenishing and nourishing facial mist with the added benefits of organically grown Rose, Noni, Aloe and Hibiscus. This unique combination provides the skin with antioxidant protection known widely to assist in supporting the skin’s own collagen production.”

“Use morning and night after cleansing and before your choice of KORA Organics moisturizers. Simply spritz a fine mist directly onto clean, fresh skin. To maintain makeup freshness throughout the day gently spritz over makeup. Essential for travelling to re-hydrate the skin.”

Ingredients: Rosa damascena (Rose) Flower Water*, Rosa centifolia (Rose)*, Hibiscus sabdariffa (Hibiscus)* Extract, Alcohol^, Parfum (Natural), Sodium PCA, Glycerin^, Morinda citrifolia (Noni Fruit) Extract *, Polyglycerol-10 Isostearate, Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Malpighia glabra (Acerola Cherry Powder)*, d-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Soyabean derived Natural Vitamin E), Glyceryl Caprylate, Maltodextrin^, Sodium chloride (Macrobiotic sea salt ), Lactic Acid, Aqua (Water). *Ingredient from Organic Farming. ^Made using Organic Ingredients. 98.99% of the total ingredients are from Natural Origin. 87.63% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming.

Skin Type for: Normal/Dry skin

Smell: I really enjoy the heavenly rose scent. It’s not obnoxious at all, just very calming and refreshing.

Feel: If you do spritz a lot throughout the day without makeup on, it can feel sticky. However, over the top of foundation you cannot feel it. When I go to wash my face at the end of the day it feels incredibly soft, smooth and hydrated.

The sprayer on this mist is the best I have come across. I love how even and fine the mist comes out of the bottle and the nozzle allows you to control how much to spray. What I don’t like is how hard the lid is to take off and put back on. There’s a certain way to take off the lid (almost snap it off on the side), which led to the nozzle falling off at one time but I was able to put it back on easily.

Longevity: As mentioned, if you do have dry skin and go to town with your mist all day long, it will run out very quickly.

Look: I love how dewy and hydrated my skin looks when this is applied with or without makeup on.

Recommend: I would highly recommend this if you have sensitive, dry and flakey skin and are looking to make your mineral makeup more dewy. I feel like what sets this rosewater spray apart from others is definitely the sprayer and how even and fine a mist you get, but also the ingredients just work perfectly together to calm and soothe the skin. I have now repurchased this three times, so you know how good it is!

Beauty Tip of the Day: Wash Your Face with Tepid Water

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 3.03.06 pm

Hi Beauties!

Today, I thought I would share with you my experience using tepid water to wash my face versus when I used to use hot water. My skin type is dry/sensitive and is very break out prone if I use the wrong products. It is also very sensitive to weather changes and will become extremely dry and flaky in the winter months, and oily in the summer months. Since I made the decision to use only tepid water to wash my face, I have noticed a significant difference in my skin. It is less dry, I have noticed a reduction in redness and breakouts, and the overall suppleness of my skin. I began to notice a trend that in the winter months, my skin would break out more, becoming very irritated and dry. I linked it to the use of hot water to wash my face since it is colder and that is what you would tend to do. In the summer months, I always have flawless skin because I use tepid, sometimes cool water to wash my face.

It is suggested that the right temperature of the water for your face is warm or tepid water. You can try experimenting to see what temperature is comfortable for you and it should not burn your finger when under the tap. So why is it important to use tepid, warm water? It is said that this temperature not only unclogs the pores, but it also maintains your skin natural oils. If the water is too hot, you will strip your skin of the natural oils, causing it to become very dry and irritated. However, if the water is too cold it cannot sufficiently remove the daily oil and dirt that is trapped in your pores. Its all about a balance! This may sounds very simple and basic, but it has made such a significant improvement in my skin. I used to think that washing my face with hot water will somehow dry out my pimples, but it only made things worse. I hope this beauty tip has helped you out! Don’t forget to like, follow, and comment!

love always,

Environ Intensive Revival Masque Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing another holy grail skincare product, Environ’s Intensive Revival Masque. What I love about Environ is the minimal, but highly concentrated and effective ingredients used in their products to achieve maximum results. This is my second tub of this masque, which goes to show how much I love this product! I’m very picky when it comes to skincare as I expect to see results either within the first use or a couple of uses. This product did not disappoint me at all! I was recommended by my aesthetician to try this product because my skin is really dry, uneven, dull and I needed help to lighten some red marks on my face. My skin type is dry/sensitive breakout prone and in the winter time it is extremely dry. This product really helped to not only add moisture to my skin and help reduce redness and my smile lines, but also was very effective in instantly brightening, tightening, and gradually fading the red marks on my face. This product is best used during autumn/winter when the skin is very dry.

This masque has been described as a “facelift in a bottle,” because of its ability to reduce lines and wrinkles, lighten pigmentation marks, tighten and smooth the skin, giving a youthful radiant appearance. It uses three main acids to achieve these results, which include Asiatic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Mandelic Acid. As I’m very breakout prone, I’m always hesitant to try new products out, but now I know to trust Environ skincare. It never breaks me out, but rather helps to significantly reduce any redness and inflammation! After the first use, my complexion was instantly brighter and more even, adding a nice youthful glow. My pores looked smaller and my face felt tighter. Because of all the acids in this product, there is a sunburn alert and you should always wear a broad spectrum sunscreen. I would recommend the Jane Iredale Purepressed Base, which is a sunscreen, foundation, and concealer all in one. A tip is to use this mask right before makeup application if you have trouble with powder foundation creasing and accentuating smile lines, as I experienced none of this after application!

Description: The Environ® Intensive Revival Masque has a unique combination of revolutionary ingredients
Asiatic, Mandelic and Lactic Acid that make the skin appear more luminous, smoother and

Key Ingredients:
• Asiatic Acid
• Lactic Acid
• Mandelic Acid

• Research over many years has shown that Asiatic Acid promotes the synthesis of growth
factors that are important in the regenerative processes of the skin.
• Lactic Acid is a powerful promoter of the natural hydrating factors of the skin.
• Mandelic Acid works in synergy with Lactic and Asiatic Acid in creating a smoother, younger
and more refined skin appearance.

Aqua (Water), Pentylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lactic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Propylene Glycol, PEG-40 Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Mandelic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Ceteareth-20, Disodium EDTA.

I cleanse my face with the Environ Interactive Cleansing Gel, and then exfoliate with the Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub so that the mask can penetrate deeper into the skin. Apply a thin layer of the mask all over face, neck and décolleté. I was recommended to leave the mask on between 20-30 minutes, however if you really need the moisture to come back into the skin, you can leave it on for longer, but I find that 30 minutes is long enough. After the time is up, I like to rinse with tepid water with a cotton pad. Do not use any chemical exfoliating toners or products that contain any active acid ingredients as the acids in the mask will already be exfoliating dead skin cells overnight. All you need to do is follow up with a gentle and soothing moisturiser. I like to use the Dr Spiller Collagen Creme, which is fantastic at locking in moisture. I use this mask about 1-2 times a week. When you first start using this product, because it is so strong, you should start off with using it once a week, and then slowly build to 2-3 times a week.

Results for me were instant. I noticed my skin was smoother, brighter and more even. My skin felt tighter and more plump. The smile lines I had were becoming less apparent with each use. Your skin does peel a little overnight if you have any dry patches or scabs. This mask is great at healing any wounds at a faster pace. This is especially good for large pores around the nose! Obviously the fading of the red marks will take a little time, but I saw a significant reduction within the fourth use. On nights I don’t use this mask, I do use the Environ Alpha Toner Forte, which has Glycolic Acid, so that is also helping to lighten up the red marks.

It definitely has a strong, potent scent because of all the acids, although it isn’t unbearable.

The texture is very light, watery, creamy and easy to spread all over the face. It’s whitish in colour, although goes clear on face. Once it starts to slightly dry (although still stays creamy) on the face, you can feel your skin tightening, but it isn’t so tight that you can’t move it. It’s not uncomfortable, however if you have any open wounds, it will sting for a little but will go away very shortly.

My Skin Type and Who is this for?

My skin type is dry to very dry (in the winter especially), sensitive and breakout prone. It’s very uneven, dull, and fair in complexion. This mask is suitable for uneven skin texture and sun damaged skin.

Shelf Life:

24 months unopened 10 – 12 weeks period after opening.

Packaging: 50ml (1.7 fl oz) jar with special spatula.

Price: AUD $120

Rating: 5/5

Recommend? 100% Yes! Although it is expensive, it will last you a while, and you will see instant results. This would most definitely benefit women with more mature skin or very dry, uneven skin.

Where to Buy: Due to the strength and specificity of each Environ product, you will have to purchase this at an Environ Stockist. To search for one near you, click here.

KORA Organics Hydrating Mask Review

Hi Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the KORA Organics Hydrating Mask.

My Thoughts:

I was given this mask as a christmas gift, so this has lasted me quite a while and I still  have a few uses left! If you have a similar skin type to me, that is dry, sensitive, and prone to breakouts, or you just need a mask to hydrate, brighten and reduce redness, then this is the product for you. This product does exactly what it says it does, which is why it has fast become a favourite of mine. This mask really does replenish, rejuvenate, soothe and hydrate dull, dry skin. I love that it produces results almost instantly with a couple of uses, including; reducing redness, adding hydration and suppleness, soothing breakouts, brightening and evening skin tone, and providing your skin with a natural, healthy glow. I’m not easy to please with skincare products, especially with certified organic skincare, (due to breaking out in the past), however KORA never disappoints and I would highly suggest giving this mask a try!

Description on website:

“Containing Noni Extract, Vitamins and minerals to restore essential moisture to the skin. This calming uniquely formulated mask cleans, rehydrates and protects the skin. KORA Organics Hydrating Mask refines pores, removes dead skin cells and promotes healthy tissue rejuvenation leaving the skin feeling replenished and rejuvenated.”

“Apply enough Hydrating Mask to completely cover the skin over the face, throat and décolletage once or twice a week. Avoid the eye area. Allow mask to set for approx. 5 to 10 minutes. Gently remove with tepid water and a soft face cloth. Follow with your choice of KORA Organics Calming Lavender or Balancing Rose Mist and moisturise with your choice of either KORA Organics Hydrating or Soothing Day and Night Cream.”

I love that you only need a little bit to cover the entire face! I use it roughly once a week and leave it on for 10 minutes. However, you can leave it on for longer if your skin is really dry, but I find that 10 minutes does the trick! I personally follow up with my own skincare routine after I wash the mask off. I use Environ’s Alpha Forte Toner, and Dr Spiller’s Collagen Creme.

Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf juice*, Rosa damascena (Rose) Water*, Glycerin^, Kaolin, Olivoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate, CI 77891 (Titanium dioxide) & Silica, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Oil*, Rosa eglentaria (Rose Hip) Oil*, Sodium PCA, Trehalose, Glyceryl Caprylate, Morinda citrifolia (Noni Fruit) Extract*, Sodium Hyaluronate, Persea gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, d-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Soyabean derived Natural Vitamin E), Rosa damascena (Rose) Oil*, Santalum spicatum (Sandalwood) Oil*, Cedrus atlantica (Cedarwood) Oil*, Pogostemon cablin (Patchouli) Oil*, Xanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Carrageenan, CI 77288 (Chromium Oxide Green), Lactic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide. *Ingredient from Organic Farming. ^Made from Organic Ingredients. 98.4% of the total ingredients are from Natural Origin. 77.1% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming.

Skin Type: For Normal / Dry Skin.

*KORA also makes one for more oily skin (Clay Purifying Mask) which I had a sample of and didn’t like as it was way too strong for my skin.

Look: The mask has a whitish/green tinge to it. Instantly after one use, I noticed my skin looking more even and brighter in tone. My skin also had a nice glow and the redness was reduced.

Smell: I love the smell of all KORA products, with this mask being no exception! It smells very earthy and calming. The smell is very subtle and definitely not offensive in any way.

IMG_5253 IMG_5254

I love how this mask feels on my skin. It feels very light, cool, watery, yet moisturising on the skin. I also love how it doesn’t dry hard or tight on the skin, it just feels very hydrating. When you wash the mask off, your skin feels incredibly hydrated, smooth and supple to the touch.

Price: AU$44.95. The price is very much worth the results and longevity of this product. It comes with a lot of product and is easily spreadable, so you don’t have to use a whole lot of it.

Size: 100 mL/3.38 fl.oz. Recently, KORA has repackaged the mask and now it comes in 75 mL tube. Although you get less product, I think it is better because I still have a lot to use up and it is almost past the expiry date.

I love the squeeze tube packaging as it allows you to control how much product you use. I also love the respect affirmation at the back of the packaging.

Rating: 5/5

Recommend? Absolutely Yes! Particularly those who have really dry, sensitive skin that is also prone to breakouts. This is particularly good to use in the winter months to give your skin that much needed hydration and natural glow.

Dermalogica Colloidal Masque Base Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing another Dermalogica product, the Colloidal Masque Base. I purchased this product during the cold winter months in hopes that it would help hydrate my skin. I was a little disappointed because it didn’t make such a difference to my skin that I would repurchase it again in the future. I think because of the texture, in that it is a gel, it would suit more oilier skin types during the summer months. It definitely calms redness, cools the skin, and feels very smooth and lightweight. However, it did make my skin feel somewhat tight and flakey in some areas. I’ve applied it in the morning and left it on all day, and also at night and slept in it. However I think it is recommended to apply for about 15 minutes, wash it off, and apply your moisturizer, which I think is the best way to use this mask. I think that because my skin is so dry, it loves more rich, creamy and thick moisturisers, not gels, however I do have to keep in mind that this is a mask. I did also notice that this would clog my pores a little if I wore it too often, so that is why I am also disappointed with this product. Although most of the ingredients are really natural and good, there are some other ingredients that I am not happy with using on my skin. This mask comes in a professional size tube, which lasts for so long, which is a bonus considering it is a very expensive product.

“The Colloidal Masque Base is a clear, phytonutrient-rich masque that deeply moisturises dehydrated skin. Botanical humectants attract moisture and bind it to the skin, leaving it hydrated and supple. Incredibly soothes & comforts skin, leaving your skin feeling clean, fresh, supple & healthy. Highly recommended for dehydrated skin. Dermalogica products contain no artificial fragrance and colour.”

-This gel form mask contains high content of moisture
-Keeps skin wet & gives a cooling effect
-Anti-oxidation & fight against external aggressors
-Incredibly soothes & comforts skin
-Leaves your skin feeling clean, fresh, supple & healthy
-Ideal for dehydrated skin & eye zone
-After applying repairing essence, spread the mask on face & wait for 10 minutes. Then rinse off with water.

How to use:

-After cleansing and/or applying a suitable serum, spread masque evenly over the face.
-Leave on for 15 – 20 minutes.
-Rinse off cleanly with warm water.
-May be used around the eyes and lips.
-For intensive hydration, this masque maybe be used together with the Dermalogica Oatmeal Masque. In this case, first apply the Colloidal Masque Base, place a gauze over the face, then spread the prepared Colloidal Oatmeal Masque over the gauze. Steam the face for about 15 minutes (or leave on if a steamer is not available) and wash off cleanly.

My Skin Type:

Dry/really dry, sensitive, and breakout prone.

Feel: Since this is a gel texture, it feels very comfortable and cooling on the skin. It feels very lightweight, non tacky and absorbs right into the skin. If you have really red, irritated skin, this would feel instantly soothing on your skin. However, if you have really dry skin, this unfortunately doesn’t provide enough moisture and can feel a little tight.

Smell: There is absolutely no fragrance.

Longevity: This tube is still quite full, and has lasted me now for about 4 months plus, although I don’t use this very often. You only need the smallest amount as it is easily spreadable.

Texture: This is a watery, gel like consistency. I feel like this would be the perfect texture for more oilier/normal skin types during the warmer months as it feels very lightweight.

IMG_2173 IMG_2175

Price: around $120, but you can find cheaper options on ebay or various other sites.

Recommend? Personally, I don’t feel like this product is worth the price. I feel like this is a very expensive product that you could find cheaper options out there that do the same or a better job. It didn’t work for my severely dry skin and would sometimes break me out, so I wouldn’t recommend this product. However, if you don’t mind spending a little more money on a gel like face mask for the summer months that instantly cools and soothes your normal/oily skin that isn’t break out prone, then this would be perfect for you.
