RMS Beauty Lip Shine in “Bloom”

Hello Beauties!

I think by now you know how OBSESSED I am with RMS beauty, in particular their lip products. I think she has nailed the formula, packaging, colours and ingredients. I really love her lip shines, which to me are a hybrid between a lip gloss and a lip balm. I love using raw coconut oil on my lips as I have very dry lips, so RMS lip shines are the perfect product for me. I love her lip shine in sacred, which is a very pigmented bright pink, however I was looking for a more sheer pink wash of colour to use at night or on a daily basis. My mother was using this colour, which is bloom, described as a “sheer petal pink with a subtle hint of shimmer.” The shade is exactly that, a very sheer wash of colour that is almost the same shade as my lip colour. I will admit at first I was quite disappointed as I thought it was too sheer for me and not glossy enough. The colour did grow on me and I really liked how natural it looked on my lips. As with all RMS products, everything is raw, food grade, and certified organic, which I especially love in lip products.

IMG_2592

With flash, you can see tiny flecks of shimmer.

Description:

Fusing a blend of nourishing oils and pure mineral pigments, this creamy lip emollient delivers a sheer hint of colour and a touch of gloss to lips.”

This is a very nourishing, healing balm that feels smooth and hydrating on the lips. However, I don’t think this is glossy enough for me and would prefer more shine. I do love how this does not feel sticky at all! Even though it has shimmer in it, you cannot see or feel chunks of it on your lips. Because this is a lighter shade of pink, if you have any dry skin on your lips it will catch onto it. I always recommend scrubbing your lips beforehand. I wouldn’t say this is the most moisturising lip shine I’ve tried, as I found the colour sacred to be a lot more hydrating. Nonetheless, this is still a great lip product that moisturises and provides a sheer wash of colour.

I can’t really describe the scent, other than it’s not fruity or floral, just natural. It kind of smells/tastes like raw coconut oil. I quite like it. Even though the size of the pot is small, the product lasts such a long time as you only need a little bit. Because this is a sheer colour, it won’t last as long on your lips, compared to sacred which would leave a pretty stain on my lips overnight!

Ingredients: *Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, *Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Buriti (Mauritia Flexuosa) Oil, *Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), Centella Asiatica Extract, *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Non-GMO, may contain: [+/- Iron Oxides CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, Titanium Dioxide CI 77891 and Mica CI 77019].

I love how short and simple her ingredient list is. I also love how you can recognise every single ingredient!

I would highly recommend trying out her lip shines if you like to wear lip balm with colour. If you love coconut oil like me, especially on your lips, you will love her products! I think she has created gorgeous formulas and shades that would work for everyone.

KORA Organics Daily Hand Cream Review

tMdvRPcfRXiEfOifcjgEXg_thumb_49.jpg

Today I will be doing a review on the KORA Organics Daily Hand Cream. I know i’ve reviewed so many products from the KORA range but I’ve been pleasantly surprised most of the time and enjoy using their products. I didn’t set out to purchase this product as it was sent to me as a gift with purchase. I already was using a hand cream I loved, the L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (I know it’s not organic, but it’s my favourite).

I will be honest, at first I was not impressed by this hand cream. I found that it did not give enough moisture as I was so used to the rich formula of the L’Occitane one. However, I wanted to give it a good try and ended up reaching for it daily. First of all, the scent is absolutely divine…very summer and citrusy. It’s the KORA signature scent that I love. The formula is more runny than thick, so you only need the smallest amount as it is quite hard to blend in if you apply too much. This hand cream will last you such a long time as you only need a small amount.

Description: A unique anti-ageing blend of Noni Extract, Avocado and Olive Oil to create the perfect rich, healing and replenishing potion for hands and nails. Ideal for re-hydrating hands and cuticles leaving them soft, smooth and renewed.

Ingredients: Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender)*, Matricaria chamomilla (recutita – Chamomile)*, Olea europaea (Olive) Leaf*, Fucus vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract*, Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Macadamia integrifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil*, Olivoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Glyceryl Oleate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Olea europaea (Olive) Oil, Glycerin^, Morinda citrifolia (Noni Fruit) Extract*, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Rosa eglentaria (Rose Hip) Oil*, Tocopherol (and) Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Oil, Punica granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols, Carageenan, Santalum spicatum (Sandalwood) Oil*, Citrus reticulata (Mandarin) Oil*, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil*, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lecithin (GMO free)*, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Citrus aurantium ssp bergamia (Bergamot) Oil*, Sodium chloride (Macrobiotic Sea Salt), Beta Carotene, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Aqua (Water), Limonene**, Linalool**. *Ingredient from Organic Farming. **From essential oils. ^Made using Organic Ingredients. 98.0% of the total ingredients are from Natural Origin. 62.7% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming.

What I love most about this anti ageing formula compared to the L’Occitane hand cream is the finish. The KORA formula gives a more silky matte finish that doesn’t leave that dreaded greasy residue from rich hand creams. Because it dries very quickly, you can easily go about your day without waiting for it to dry like the L’Occitane one. It leaves your hands feeling incredibly silky smooth with a subtle hint of citrus essential oils. My cuticles also looked amazing whilst using this! However, I still think that the KORA hand cream would be better suited in the summer months when you don’t need as thick of a hand cream.

Although this is a lovely anti ageing formula, I would love to see KORA create a hand cream that incorporates SPF as we all know out hands show the first signs of ageing. I would definitely be repurchasing this for the summer months, however I will stick to my L’Occitane hand cream in the winter when I need more of a rich formula.

Leanani Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Hi Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Leanani Liquid Eyeliner in Black. This is the first product I have tried from this Japanese Brand. We all know how well the Japanese make their cosmetics, and I love how they always incorporate some sort of skincare element into their makeup. I first heard about this product through Miranda Kerr’s instagram as she uses it. We all know that anything she uses, I will be sure to try! I also know that she is into organic, skincare cosmetics. We all know the struggle to find a certified organic liquid liner that works! Because I only wear liquid liner on special occasions, I’m not too strict with ingredients. What sold me about this product is that it is a mineral eyeliner, free of tar based dyes, that contains skincare ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid to moisturise the delicate eye area and ginseng root extract to protect your eyelashes from falling!

FullSizeRender.jpgDescription:

Containing serum ingredients, this jet-black waterproof eyeliner gives your eye makeup long-lasting impact and drama. A waterproof eyeliner that is durable, long-lasting with attractive colour. The thin, marker-line tip is user-friendly. You can draw both tiny and bold eye lines.

Product features:
• Strong waterproof. No smudging, running in spite of rain or tears.
• Dark black eyeliner with thin tip, gets dry quickly. Easy to deliver different styles of eye makeup.
• Moisturizing ingredients are used to provide nourishment to eye area.
• No mineral or coal tar oil. Safe to use.

*Suitable for all skin types. Safe for contact lens wearers.

Ingredients: Water, (ethylhexyl / methyl methacrylate acrylic acid) copolymer, BG, ethanol, ceteth -20, (acrylates / methyl styrene / styrene) copolymer ammonium, sea salt, hyaluronic acid Na, Panax ginseng root extract, succinyl atelocollagen, hydrolyzed silk, (alkyl acrylate / octyl acrylamide) copolymer, pentylene glycol, 1,2-hexane diol, caprylyl glycol, ethylhexyl glycerin, polyglyceryl-3 disiloxane dimethicone, hydroxide Na, EDTA-2Na, phenoxyethanol, carbon black.

Colour: This is a really rich black formula that gives off high pigment in one stroke! It sets to a nice matte finish in a matter of seconds!

Packaging: I love the felt tip and the size of it! It’s really flexible and thin so you can really control how big or small you want your wing. This makes putting on your wing so incredibly easy. It also doesn’t dry up whilst you’re applying your liner. I’ve had this for a while now and only used it a few times, but I still have a lot of product left, so I don’t think it would dry out fast.

IMG_8645

Longevity/Performance: This is such a long lasting, smudge proof, waterproof liner. I wore this to an event and it didn’t fade or flake off or move one bit! It is also easy to take off with an eye makeup remover.

Feel: In the past, I’ve use liquid liners with a really thick formula that you could feel on your eyes and this has such a thin, lightweight and liquidy consistency that is just right (definitely serum like). I also have sensitive eyes, and this does not irritate them at all.

Rating: 5/5

Where to buy: I purchased mine on ebay. It also relatively cheap (around US $20).

Overall, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an incredibly easy application and longevity with the added benefits of conditioning eye safe skincare ingredients.

RMS Beauty Lip Shine in Sacred Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the RMS Beauty lip shine in Sacred. As you know RMS Beauty is my favourite organic line of cosmetics, particularly their lip products. At first glance this colour may look very bright and scary, but it is very wearable and pretty. It has become my favourite lip colour from the entire RMS range (as you can see I have almost used it all up!).  It gives your lips such a pretty pinky red stain that lasts for hours. You can customise the amount of pigment you want, as it can be worn as a sheer tint or as a fully opaque glossy colour. I like wearing this to bed as my tinted lip balm and the colour lasts until I wash it off in the morning. You have to really exfoliate your lips with more vibrant colours, such as this, otherwise it will cling onto dry patches and make them look darker. Also, it can stain your pillowcase if it hasn’t fully dried down to a stain.

I have very fair skin with dark hair, and this product is perfect for brightening up my complexion. As this is a lip shine, it’s a glossy formula that hydrates the lips very well. I have been wearing this every single night since I bought it, which was a year ago. This product will last you such a long time as you only need a little bit to get the pigment you want.

The packaging of RMS products is my favourite. I prefer pot lip balm products and like to use my fingers to work the product in. Because this colour is very bright and staining, it can stain under your nails and fingers if not wiped off straight away. There’s no particular strong scent, other than coconut oil, which I love. The formula is glossy, but not sticky. Overall, I would highly recommend this colour as well as the entire RMS lip range, as you are getting high quality raw ingredients that are high performance.

Jane Iredale Lip Definer in Nude

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Jane Iredale Lip Definer in the shade Nude. I am such a fan of Jane Iredale cosmetics and already use their lip definer in Spice (which is the exact shade of my lips). I was looking for a 90s brown Cindy Crawford lip liner look, and the lip pencil in nude is the perfect shade for that! This is the darkest shade I can go for me as I am very fair and Nude is about 2 shades darker than my natural lip colour. I would highly recommend this product as it’s not only packed with quality ingredients to nourish your lips, but it also performs incredibly well. I would recommend the shade Spice as your first purchase as I think it’s a more universal shade.

img_7473-2

The give you that sexy 90s pout, add a lighter pink nude in the centre of the lips. I find that I have to use a very light hand with this as it’s very dark and pigmented for my skin tone.

img_7475

There aren’t any official descriptions of the shades online, however I would describe Spice as a pink nude, whereas Nude is strictly a brown nude. Spice would suit a lot more skin tones than nude would, as it is a more universal shade.

You can definitely see in the swatches above that Spice has more of a pink undertone.

Description on Website:

Our Lip Pencils are soft enough to fill in your lips easily but durable enough to provide a long-lasting base to the color you layer over them.

I would say these lip pencils are more on the stiff side than creamy. They do glide on easily, however there isn’t much slip to them which I prefer as it means it will last a long time.

Details:

  • Mineral pigment-based lip pencil with a soft formula that won’t tug at delicate skin.
  • Made with conditioning oils and waxes.
  • Soft formula lends itself to blending and being used as a lip base.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. [+/- (May Contain) Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Manganese Violet (Ci 77742), Mica, Carmine (Ci 75470)].

*All shades are wheat free. The shade Nude is vegan, however Spice contains carmine.

Shades: 12 shades

Packaging: I love the sleek packaging, however I would prefer a twist up lip pencil as I’m lazy when it comes to sharpening.

Scent: There’s no particular scent besides the woody scent of the lip pencil.

Longevity: Because the formula is not super creamy, I find this lasts quite a while on my lips. However, don’t expect it to last all day.

Feel/Look: Definitely more on the stiff, matte side than creamy.

Size: 0.04 oz

Rating: 5/5

Cruelty Free:

  • Jane Iredale is certified cruelty-free by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program, the leading internationally respected animal protection group for cruelty-free certification.

Inika Loose Mineral Blush in Blooming Nude & Inika Vegan Blush Brush Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing Inika’s loose mineral blush in blooming nude along with their vegan blush brush. I have purchased from Inika before and have been impressed with their products. I absolutely love their loose mineral blush in ‘Peachy Keen’ and think everyone should own this colour (review here).

Inika is an amazing Australian brand of certified organic cosmetics that cater to the modern woman wanting quality makeup with skin loving ingredients that perform. Inika has actually won awards for their products that have out performed non organic brands. Inika is great for people with skin sensitives as they are gentle and contain advanced botanical ingredients completely free of synthetics, and all their products are certified organic, halal, vegan, and cruelty free. How amazing is that!

I adore the shade ‘peachy keen’ and continue to use it daily, however I was looking for a blush that was more on the bronzy nude shade for winter. The shade ‘blooming nude’ is exactly that. A hybrid between a mauve blush and a bronzer. It is even described as being a contour shade for the cheekbones, which would be perfect as it doesn’t contain much, if any shimmer (as you can see in the flash photo below). My first impressions were quite underwhelming as I didn’t think the shade suited my fair complexion. However, the more I started to play around with it, the more I fell in love with it. t is such a pretty, natural shade that would look amazing on a variety of skin tones. This is definitely my go to winter blush shade as it goes with more darker lip colours and a neutral smokey eye.

What I love about Inika’s loose mineral blushes is how incredibly soft and easily blendable they are. They are also incredibly pigmented due to the lack of synthetic fillers, oil, talc, alcohol, fragrance, preservatives, and chemical dyes. Not only will this pot of blush last you for years, the colour is also very long lasting throughout the day and gives your skin a natural, healthy glow. I also love the minimal ingredient list as the fewer ingredients a product contains, the less likely it is to irritate your skin!

As you can tell in the images above, Blooming Nude is a very bronzy shade compare to Peachy Keen. It is also very matte compared to Peachy Keen, which give you more of a glow.

Ingredients: Mica (CI 77019); Zinc Oxide (CI 77947); May contain (+/-) Tin Oxide (Cl 77861), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891); Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Ultramarines (Cl 77007).

*Certified Organic

Certified Cruelty-Free, Vegan and Halal.

Size: 3g

Price: AUD $45

Rating: 5/5

Website: https://www.inikaorganic.com

Overall, I really love Inika’s loose mineral blushes, and recommend you give them a try if you have sensitive/breakout prone skin. I love the shade “blooming nude” as my winter blush as it gives the right amount of bronze and pinky mauve to the cheeks!

fullsizerender-2

Inika’s Vegan Blush brush is made from soft synthetic fibres, is vegan, cruelty free, and halal. The bristles are incredibly soft and are designed to pick up product and distribute evenly and flawlessly across the face. Because the brush is so dense, it picks up a lot of product in one area of the brush instead of evenly on the entire brush. I find I have to swirl the product in the cap before I apply it onto my face so I spread the product evenly on the brush. Besides that, I do think this is a beautifully made brush that applies product nicely and very gently on the face. It can not only be used for blush but also as a contour brush as it fits perfectly in the hollows of the cheekbones.

Description:

“Our Vegan Blush Brush is designed for shading and highlighting the cheeks and face with our Loose Mineral Blush or Loose/Baked Mineral Bronzer.

The perfectly sized bristles are extremely soft, and, like the Kabuki Brush, are designed to hold the powder in the brush helping to maximise the application of the product.”

Ingredients: 100% Vegan & Cruelty Free Synthetic Bristles.

Application:

“Use small circular motions to apply INIKA Mineral Blush or Bronzer to the cheeks for a natural glow.

Slimline the face and create depth by adding bronzer to the hollows of the cheek and jawline.”

Price: AUD $39

Website: https://www.inikaorganic.com

Overall, I do think this is a beautifully designed brush that is very soft and works perfectly with the Inika Loose Mineral blushes as well as contouring powders.

Honest Beauty Makeup Haul Part 2 (2017) & First Impressions

fullsizerenderHello Beauties!

By now you should know that I am completely obsessed with Honest Beauty makeup! I have reviewed a few other products from their line in my first haul in which i was thoroughly impressed (link here). Not only do they use safe, mostly natural ingredients, it is quality high performance makeup that is comparabale and even better than mainstream makeup. I love how you can create fast looks with their products as they are made for on the go busy women. I love using natural makeup products, but they also have to perform well and that is exactly what Honest Beauty does. Not to mention the packaging is beautiful, modern, and simple. I will say though their makeup is made to enhance natural beauty and therefore look natural on the skin.

As I live in Australia, I unfortunately cannot get it shipped to me (I hope in the future they change this), and was lucky enough to have a family member purchase these whilst on holidays. I think that the pricing is fair as you are paying for quality, safe ingredients. Although not all the ingredients are natural and organic, I am ok with using safe synthetics. I always give my honest opinion in my reviews as I want to recommend only the best products that are safe and effective to my friends.

Now let’s get to the first impressions…

Honest Beauty Creme Blush in Truly Exciting (US $22)

This is the first cream blush I have ever owned and I absolutely love it! I have fair skin and the colour is perfect for me. It’s described as a pink rose, which is a perfect description. I bought this to wear over the tinted moisturiser on more natural makeup days. It’s very creamy and easy to work with. Its pigmented, but not to the extent of being difficult to work with as you can sheer it out. It’s easily buildable and prefer to use my fingers with this product but you can definitely use a stipple brush. It doesn’t feel thick or sticky as the formula is very thin and lightweight. It doesn’t set to a powder finish, it just gives you this natural, healthy glow. As most days I wear the Jane Iredale purepressed base, I do wish they would make a powder version of this colour.

This has a soft fruity/berry scent, as it’s infused with fruit extracts like raspberry, which I enjoy. As I’m sensitive to fragrance, I love that it isn’t strong and doesn’t linger on the face once applied. You could also use this on your lips to get a more uniform look. I also love the packaging as it is compact and travel friendly. I haven’t noticed any irritation or breakouts when I wore this product, but will update you if I do. I will definitely be purchasing more colours in the future! I would most definitely recommend this product if you are into cream blushes and this shade would suit a variety of skin tones.

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil‬, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride‬, Beeswax (Cera Alba, Cire d’Abeille), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera Cera, Cire de Candelilla), Ethylhexyl Palmitate‬, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate‬, C10-18 Triglycerides‬, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax (Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Cire de Carnauba), Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate‬, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract‬, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract‬, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract‬, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract‬, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract‬, Glyceryl Caprylate‬, Triethyl Citrate‬, Alcohol‬. May Contain +/-: Iron Oxides (Cl 77491/77492/77499), Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891), Ultramarines (Cl 77007), Mica (Cl 77019), Red 30 Lake (Cl 73360), Red 6 (Cl 15850), Red 7 Lake (Cl 15850)

Honest Beauty Concealer Duo in Vanishing Vanilla (US$20)

I purchased this product for on the go spot concealing. I love how compact it is, making it perfect for your purse. This shade is perfect for my fair to light skin tone with yellow undertones. I love how it comes with two shades to mix and match depending on your skintone. The darkest shade is almost peachy to me, which could work quite well for dark cirlces. I have used it under my eyes and find it a little bit too drying and it creases and prefer the brightness and creaminess of my RMS beauty un coverup.

I do however love the coverage it gives for spot concealing, especially when used with the real techniques accent brush as it is small and stiff, allowing to pack on the product. I then go in with my fingers to lightly blend out any harsh edges. It looks very natural and almost undetectable on the skin. You need to warm up the product as it is a little bit dry before applying onto your blemish. The formula is also good for blemishes as it’s not too creamy so it will stay put and not slide around. I would describe the coverage as high medium. I would recommend this to someone looking to spot conceal small blemishes and that doesn’t have a lot of serious skin issues to cover.

Ingredients: Castor Isostearate Beeswax Succinate, Mica, Octyl-Dodecanol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Prunusamygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Silica, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Trihydroxystearin, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax (Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Ciredecarnauba), Butyrospermumparkii (Shea) Butter, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Glycerin, Glyceryl Behenate, Water (Aqua, Eau), Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Citral. Honest Beauty Luminizing Powder in Dusk Reflection (US$25)

I already knew I was going to fall in love with this product as I love the luminizing powder in Midnight Reflection (their highlighter). Dusk Reflection is a luminizing bronzer with very fine shimmer that is undetectable on the skin, giving you a natural healthy glow. This was my favourite product from everything I got. At first, I was worried at how dark it looked in the pan, but once applied it is so natural and beautiful. You won’t get any harsh contouring from this product as Honest Beauty makeup is about enhancing your natural beauty, but there is a good amount of pigment in this product. I always get compliments on how nice my makeup looks when wearing this! The colour is perfect too, not too orangey and not too ashy, just a subtle summer bronze. I think this would suit light to medium skin tones as I don’t think it is dark enough for darker skin tones.

I have been reaching for this every time I do my makeup to warm up my face or to contour as it’s so natural. It is very buildable so you are aren’t going to dip your brush in it once and get too much product which I like. You can definitely use a heavy hand with this product. It allows you to control how much you want. I prefer using the Real Techniques blush brush to bronze all over or my Inika blush brush for more precise contouring. The formula is also very silky and easy to blend as it’s a baked face powder. I find it very longwearing and don’t notice any breakouts from using this (but again will keep you posted). The only con about this product is how bulky the packaging is. I love how much product you get, however it isn’t very travel friendly. I wish they would make a trio palette with the highlighter, blush, and bronzer. Other than that, I would highly recommend this product as it has become my absolute favourite. You will not regret it!

Ingredients: Mica, Silica, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Lauroyl Lysine, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Tocopherol, Hectorite, Sodium Dehydroacetate. May Contain +/-: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491/77492/77499).

Honest Beauty True Velvet Eyeliner in Eye Opener (US$16)

Because I spent so much money at the store, they threw this lovely gem in as a free gift! And I’m glad they did because I have been wearing it every single day since I got it. I love their eyeliners in black and cocoa, so I knew I would fall in love with this shade. It is described as an eye brightening nude shade. It is perfect to line the inside of your waterline to brighten up tired eyes and to make your eyes appear more open (great for someone with smaller eyes). It is great for sensitive skin as it contains plant based conditioning ingredients that won’t irritate your eyes.

It is a true nude that looks natural and wearable and deposits the right amount of pigment. It doesn’t give you that creepy doll eyed effect as most nude liners do. It’s long wearing and undetectable. I really recommend Honest Beauty eyeliners as their formula is creamy and smooth but they don’t transfer and the packaging is also great. The sponge tip, which I actually use it not hard but really soft and squishy, blending out the liners perfectly.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera Cera, Cire de Candelilla), Silica, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax (Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Cire de Carnauba), Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. May Contain +/-: Mica (CI 77019), Iron Oxides (CI 77491/77492/77499).

Honest Beauty Everything Primer (US$27)

I was really excited to get my hands on this product as its a cult beauty favourite of Jessica Alba’s (and who doesn’t want to look like her!) and has won Allure’s Best of Beauty Award. First of all the packaging is to die for! It reminds me a lot of the Chanel packaging. It’s very chic and modern. It was also a lot smaller than what I thought, but that’s ok. It does have my favourite Honest Beauty signature scent, orange flower water, but it isn’t obnoxious in any way. It comes in a squeeze tube which you have to shake and not squeeze right away to get the product out otherwise you will struggle quite a bit. The nozzle controls the right amount of product that is squeezed out. The product itself is a bronzy shimmery colour, which is supposed to add a subtle golden glow to the skin.

I’m not a big primer person as I find it to be an extra step, so my main purpose of using this was to add a subtle golden glow to my skin either alone or under the tinted moisturiser. I also want to use this to increase the longevity of the tinted moisturiser. I have only worn this once so I cannot completely decide how I feel about this yet. It did sink in really well, was hydrating and yet not sticky once it dried. I didn’t notice a whole lot of glow or shimmer as it is very subtle and my moisturiser is quite glowy already (I apply this over my moisturiser as I have dry skin). I do like that this has hyaluronic acid to help plump up lines as I do struggle with smile lines. I didn’t notice it doing anything with my pores as I don’t struggle with large pores. I didn’t notice any breakouts from this as I usually notice within the first day of wearing something new. However, I will keep testing this out and update you guys later. As of right now, I am undecided whether or not to recommend this product…I don’t love it and I don’t hate it.

Honest Beauty Tinted Moisturiser Oil Free SPF 20 in Cream (US$28)

I had purchased the normal version of the tinted moisturiser as I have dry skin, but funnily enough this turned out to be more hydrating (even though it’s marketed for oil skin). I prefer the oil free version so much better than the normal one, as so many other people with dry skin too. I also love the white matte packaging a lot better and the tube is a lot easier to squeeze the product out of. I have used my fingers, a brush, and a beauty blender to apply this. I found using a really dense brush, like the Sephora mineral powder brush (pictured above) to be the best at blending this. The formula is still thick like the normal one, so you have to spend a bit of time blending and spreading this out to avoid it looking cakey. I love the finish of this better as it looks a lot more dewy but it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin no matter how many layers you put on. However, it does feel tacky so if you hate that feeling you will need to set this.

As it is a tinted moisturiser, don’t expect to get full coverage with this. I have light scars to cover and for me I would call this light to medium buildable coverage. It does a fantastic job at evening out your skin tone, which is the purpose of a tinted moisturiser. The colour looks orange at first but once you blend it in, because its so sheer, it matches perfectly. However if you have porcelain skin with yellow undertones, this will be too dark. This isn’t long wearing at all, but is perfect for running errands. It looks very natural and soft focus on the skin, if applied with light layers. It has my favourite orange flower water scent, but again it’s not overpowering and doesn’t linger once on the skin. I noticed when I was cleansing my face after wearing this, my skin was a lot more hydrated, smooth and supple. It felt as though all the natural oils in my skin were balanced. I didn’t notice any breakouts when wearing this, as it felt very lightweight and comfortable on the skin. I would highly recommend the Oil Free version for those natural makeup days, with the added benefit of broad spectrum sun protection.

Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon Demi-Matte in Honey Kiss (US$18)

This was another winner for me! This was also a favourite of Jessica’s so of course I had to pick it up. It was also the only nude from the demi-matte lip crayons. Honey Kiss is described as a soft nude. It is a very wearable soft pink nude that would suit a lot of skin tones. It’s very pigmented so you only need one swipe to get full coverage. I love the twist up packaging so there’s no sharpening needed. The crayon is shaped perfectly to effortlessly draw on the lips. The product is very creamy so if you live in a hot climate like I do, it will melt. It smells exactly like the creme blush, a very pleasant fruit scent. The texture of this product is very interesting. Its creamy but very lightweight at the same time, and almost feels powdery when dried.

You have to have exfoliated, hydrated lips to wear this as it can cling onto dry patches and accentuate any lines on the lips. This pairs perfectly when worn under the Honest Beauty lip gloss in Generous Kiss to create that perfect nude lip. Because of all the nourishing ingredients in this, your lips will feel incredibly soft even after the product has worn off. This does wear for a couple of hours, but you will definitely need to reapply. I highly recommend checking out their lip crayons, and they even have more sheer glossy ones if you don’t like the matte look!

Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Silica, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera Cera, Cire De Candelilla), Beeswax (Cera Alba, Cire d’Abeille), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax (Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Cire de Carnauba), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seedwax, Pyrusmalus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Rubusidaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Water (Aqua, Eau), Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Triethyl Citrate, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Alcohol. Honest Beauty Lip Gloss in Generous Kiss (US$18)

I absolutely love this lip gloss!!! Finally a lip gloss that is not sticky. Like the Bite Beauty lip glosses, this gloss will leave your lips feeling hydrated even after it has worn off. They will feel incredibly soft! The formula is perfectly thin and comfortable, but also hydrating and smooth. It’s very pigmented, but your lips but better colour. It’s the right amount of glossy making your lips look super luscious and full. You can wear it alone or over the top of Honey Kiss lip crayon if you find it’s too nude. The gloss is more of a rosy pink nude to me and balances out the lip crayon. They work perfectly together and never goop up or feel heavy. The wand is amazingly soft, flexible and flat so it’s very easy to use. The only con is that there is no scent to this. I would have liked a berry scent like the lip crayon, but it doesn’t bother me too much that there isn’t one. I would highly recommend you get yourself a gloss from honest beauty. It is probably my favourite from the whole collection so far!

Overall, I am so impressed with the quality and performance of Honest Beauty products. I would highly recommend you check them out. Those of you who like that natural, everyday, no makeup look would especially love this line. I do wish they would offer international shipping as it is difficult to get a hold of.

Shaving Routine: Natural & Safe

IMG_5030.JPG

Hello Beauties!

Today I thought I’d share my shaving routine using mostly safe and natural products. I wanted to share this as for a long time I struggled to find products that worked on my sensitive skin. I have also perfected my shaving technique in which I no longer experience nasty razor burn and/or bumps, but am still able to achieve a close shave.

As I have sensitive skin, I am a firm believer in using less products that also contaim simple, minimal ingredients.

Here is what you will need:

  1. A simple unscented fragrance free bar soap. I love the Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Bar Soap – Baby Unscented. It is so gentle on my skin and doesnt clog my pores or cause razor bumps. It is also very thick and builds a nice lather (which is what you want to avoid irritation and get the closest shave possible without cutting yourself). Ingredients are oil based and very minimal and natural, perfect for shaving delicate areas.
  2. I recommend using a razor with a lot of blades, targeted for sensitive skin with a moisturising bar on the blades to avoid irritation and cutting yourself. I’ve tried plain razors in order to be more “natural” but it just doesn’t work the same. I really enjoy using Schick Hydro Silk Razor and the Gillette Venus Spa Razor as they give me a really close shave without irritating my skin.
  3. AHA Toner (Glycolic Acid) – Glycolic acid is amazing for sensitive skin, but is also very effective. I recommend using a water based AHA toner with very minimal ingredients. I use the Environ Intensive Alpha Toner Forte as it only contains 3 ingredients: water, glycolic acid, and a preservative. It is harder to find as you have to find a stockist that sells environ, but any glycolic acid toner will work. The purpose of this is to prevent and treat razor bumps. I use this toner for my face as a “pimple killer” and it works amazingly for the bikini area in getting rid of redness and bumps the next day! I find I only need to use this the first night I shave as it is so effective. I will say though if there are any cuts, it will sting a little. I recommend also wearing loose breathable cotton underwear after you apply this.

Technique:

  • I recommend shaving right at the end of your shower so that the steam loosens up the hairs (but don’t have the water on too hot). Lather the Dr Bronner bar soap on the area you want to shave. Remember the thicker the lather, the less irritation and closer shave you will get!
  • Make sure your razor isn’t blunt or old as you will cut yourself and cause irritation. Shave with the grain (in the direction the hairs are growing) but don’t press down too hard. Do this until most of the hair is gone.
  • Apply another thick coat of soap. Shave against the grain (opposite direction the hair is growing) ONCE only. Doing this step once only will avoid getting any razor bumps as going against the grain usually causes irritation. Wash off any excess soap.
  • Once out of the shower, apply your toner on a cotton pad to the area you shaved and let dry.

I hope this helped you beauties out. For the longest time I was shaving wrong and giving myself nasty cuts and bumps. I find this method to be the best for my sensitive skin. Comment below if you have any special shaving techniques or products that work for you. I would love to hear them!

Benefits of Coconut Oil: My Experience

FullSizeRender.jpgHello Beauties!

Today I thought I’d share some of the many benefits of using beautiful, organic coconut oil. Now, if you’re like me and you’re obsessed with anything coconut, you will absolutely love this product. I cannot go a day without using coconut oil in my routine, as it is so multi purpose. If you really want to get the full health benefits of coconut oil, you must get cold pressed extra virgin organic coconut oil. I swear by Niulife Coconut Oil that I found at a health food shop and can also be ordered online here. What I love about this brand is that this coconut oil is certified fair trade, certified organic, unrefined, vegan, non gmo, and much more!

Can we just talk about the delicious smell of this coconut oil…it’s absolutely divine! A must have for any coconut lover. The size may seem small, and you can order larger sizes, but in my experience I take around a full year to use up this whole jar and would rather have a smaller size so that I can use it all up before it expires (even though it does have a long shelf life). Keep in mind, that in warmer temperatures, the oil will liquify, and in cooler months, it will become a pure white solid.

Coconut oil is known to be antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal, serving many health benefits. Coconut oil is also the key ingredient in one of my favourite makeup lines, RMS Beauty!

I’ll start off by listing the many benefits of using coconut oil below:

-Healthy cooking oil

-Daily health/energy supplement

-Luscious body/hair oil

-Luxurious moisturiser and massage oil

-Make-up remover

-Baby oil: skin, rashes, etc

-Supports your immune system

-Keeps skin youthful, smooth and healthy

….and the list goes on!

My Experience:

Moisturiser: I’ve heard that using coconut oil as a face moisturiser either breaks people out or keeps their skin clear. Unfortunately, my skin type does clog up when using heavy oils, so I don’t use coconut oil on my face. However, it does make a fantastic lip balm for dry, cracked lips! I also suffered from bug bites all over my legs at one point and used only coconut oil everyday and they magically disappeared so quickly and without a trace left behind. It also soaks in really quick and helps to even out the skin tone. The smell of coconut also lingers on your skin afterwards, leaving it baby soft. I do agree that coconut oil is fantastic for any irritation, bites, and rashes. On this note, it is also fantastic for calming down razor burn and getting rid of those nasty bumps.

Oil Pulling: I also have started to get into oil pulling (swishing oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes), which you can read up on about all the health benefits. I mainly wanted to do this to whiten my teeth and keep my mouth clean, and I do notice a difference in the whiteness of my teeth and after one use I notice the enamel on my front teeth to look significantly better!

Overall, if you’re looking for an all purpose product that can offer you several health and beauty benefits and doesn’t cost you much, I would highly recommend using certified organic cold pressed extra virgin coconut oil. You won’t regret it!

Handbag Essential: Hurraw Coconut Lip Balm!

Hello Beauties!

fullsizerenderI thought I’d share with you a handbag essential, the Hurraw Coconut Lip Balm. I was on the lookout for an organic, inexpensive, moisturising, clear lip balm that I could just throw in my purse…and I have found it! I always have dry lips, so finding a heavy duty hydrating lip balm is essential to me! I also love the scent of coconut, so this lip balm is heaven for me. What’s amazing is that you can choose from 24 different flavours on their website!

The shape of this lip balm is quite unique, but there are definite pros and cons to having this oval shape. I don’t have very big lips, just middle sized, and I find that sometimes when applying this I get some on my teeth as it’s too large for my upper lip, so I do prefer the classic round shape of a lip balm. However, because of the thin, oval shape of the lip balm, it fits perfectly in your wallet.

Description of Coconut Flavour:

“Hurraw! Coconut Lip Balm is a soothing, creamy fresh coconut concoction! Not too beachy, just a little toasty, this warm coconut is subtle yet delicious. Hurraw! Balms are all natural, vegan, organic and fair trade. Especially formulated to be super smooth, non-sticky, non-sweet and long-lasting, Hurraw! Balms are premium quality and the perfect size to take with you.”

This lip balm is definitely very moisturising and smooth on the lips, with a lovely warm coconut scent!

Ingredients: Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, ‡Euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, *Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, *Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, *Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, *Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, organic flavor, Tocopherols (sunflower)

*organic & cold pressed ‡wildcrafted

I love how minimal and transparent the ingredient list is. It’s also suitable for Vegans and is cruelty free!

Size: 4.3 g

Price: AUD $6.45.

I know that this may seem expensive for a lip balm, but I have had this for such a long time and still have so much left. I also lick my lips a lot and don’t want to swallowing nasty chemicals. When you look at the quality of the ingredients, being vegan, raw and organic, then this is definitely worth it.
