Jane Iredale Lip Definer in Nude

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Jane Iredale Lip Definer in the shade Nude. I am such a fan of Jane Iredale cosmetics and already use their lip definer in Spice (which is the exact shade of my lips). I was looking for a 90s brown Cindy Crawford lip liner look, and the lip pencil in nude is the perfect shade for that! This is the darkest shade I can go for me as I am very fair and Nude is about 2 shades darker than my natural lip colour. I would highly recommend this product as it’s not only packed with quality ingredients to nourish your lips, but it also performs incredibly well. I would recommend the shade Spice as your first purchase as I think it’s a more universal shade.

The give you that sexy 90s pout, add a lighter pink nude in the centre of the lips. I find that I have to use a very light hand with this as it’s very dark and pigmented for my skin tone.

There aren’t any official descriptions of the shades online, however I would describe Spice as a pink nude, whereas Nude is strictly a brown nude. Spice would suit a lot more skin tones than nude would, as it is a more universal shade.

You can definitely see in the swatches above that Spice has more of a pink undertone.

Description on Website:

Our Lip Pencils are soft enough to fill in your lips easily but durable enough to provide a long-lasting base to the color you layer over them.

I would say these lip pencils are more on the stiff side than creamy. They do glide on easily, however there isn’t much slip to them which I prefer as it means it will last a long time.

Details:

  • Mineral pigment-based lip pencil with a soft formula that won’t tug at delicate skin.
  • Made with conditioning oils and waxes.
  • Soft formula lends itself to blending and being used as a lip base.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. [+/- (May Contain) Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Manganese Violet (Ci 77742), Mica, Carmine (Ci 75470)].

*All shades are wheat free. The shade Nude is vegan, however Spice contains carmine.

Shades: 12 shades

Packaging: I love the sleek packaging, however I would prefer a twist up lip pencil as I’m lazy when it comes to sharpening.

Scent: There’s no particular scent besides the woody scent of the lip pencil.

Longevity: Because the formula is not super creamy, I find this lasts quite a while on my lips. However, don’t expect it to last all day.

Feel/Look: Definitely more on the stiff, matte side than creamy.

Size: 0.04 oz

Rating: 5/5

Inika Loose Mineral Blush in Blooming Nude & Inika Vegan Blush Brush Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing Inika’s loose mineral blush in blooming nude along with their vegan blush brush. I have purchased from Inika before and have been impressed with their products. I absolutely love their loose mineral blush in ‘Peachy Keen’ and think everyone should own this colour (review here).

Inika is an amazing Australian brand of certified organic cosmetics that cater to the modern woman wanting quality makeup with skin loving ingredients that perform. Inika has actually won awards for their products that have out performed non organic brands. Inika is great for people with skin sensitives as they are gentle and contain advanced botanical ingredients completely free of synthetics, and all their products are certified organic, halal, vegan, and cruelty free. How amazing is that!

I adore the shade ‘peachy keen’ and continue to use it daily, however I was looking for a blush that was more on the bronzy nude shade for winter. The shade ‘blooming nude’ is exactly that. A hybrid between a mauve blush and a bronzer. It is even described as being a contour shade for the cheekbones, which would be perfect as it doesn’t contain much, if any shimmer (as you can see in the flash photo below). My first impressions were quite underwhelming as I didn’t think the shade suited my fair complexion. However, the more I started to play around with it, the more I fell in love with it. t is such a pretty, natural shade that would look amazing on a variety of skin tones. This is definitely my go to winter blush shade as it goes with more darker lip colours and a neutral smokey eye.

What I love about Inika’s loose mineral blushes is how incredibly soft and easily blendable they are. They are also incredibly pigmented due to the lack of synthetic fillers, oil, talc, alcohol, fragrance, preservatives, and chemical dyes. Not only will this pot of blush last you for years, the colour is also very long lasting throughout the day and gives your skin a natural, healthy glow. I also love the minimal ingredient list as the fewer ingredients a product contains, the less likely it is to irritate your skin!

As you can tell in the images above, Blooming Nude is a very bronzy shade compare to Peachy Keen. It is also very matte compared to Peachy Keen, which give you more of a glow.

Ingredients: Mica (CI 77019); Zinc Oxide (CI 77947); May contain (+/-) Tin Oxide (Cl 77861), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891); Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Ultramarines (Cl 77007).

*Certified Organic

Certified Cruelty-Free, Vegan and Halal.

Overall, I really love Inika’s loose mineral blushes, and recommend you give them a try if you have sensitive/breakout prone skin. I love the shade “blooming nude” as my winter blush as it gives the right amount of bronze and pinky mauve to the cheeks!

Inika’s Vegan Blush brush is made from soft synthetic fibres, is vegan, cruelty free, and halal. The bristles are incredibly soft and are designed to pick up product and distribute evenly and flawlessly across the face. Because the brush is so dense, it picks up a lot of product in one area of the brush instead of evenly on the entire brush. I find I have to swirl the product in the cap before I apply it onto my face so I spread the product evenly on the brush. Besides that, I do think this is a beautifully made brush that applies product nicely and very gently on the face. It can not only be used for blush but also as a contour brush as it fits perfectly in the hollows of the cheekbones.

Description:

“Our Vegan Blush Brush is designed for shading and highlighting the cheeks and face with our Loose Mineral Blush or Loose/Baked Mineral Bronzer.

The perfectly sized bristles are extremely soft, and, like the Kabuki Brush, are designed to hold the powder in the brush helping to maximise the application of the product.”

Ingredients: 100% Vegan & Cruelty Free Synthetic Bristles.

Application:

“Use small circular motions to apply INIKA Mineral Blush or Bronzer to the cheeks for a natural glow.

Slimline the face and create depth by adding bronzer to the hollows of the cheek and jawline.”

Price: AUD $39

Overall, I do think this is a beautifully designed brush that is very soft and works perfectly with the Inika Loose Mineral blushes as well as contouring powders.

Handbag Essential: Hurraw Coconut Lip Balm!

Hello Beauties!

fullsizerenderI thought I’d share with you a handbag essential, the Hurraw Coconut Lip Balm. I was on the lookout for an organic, inexpensive, moisturising, clear lip balm that I could just throw in my purse…and I have found it! I always have dry lips, so finding a heavy duty hydrating lip balm is essential to me! I also love the scent of coconut, so this lip balm is heaven for me. What’s amazing is that you can choose from 24 different flavours on their website!

The shape of this lip balm is quite unique, but there are definite pros and cons to having this oval shape. I don’t have very big lips, just middle sized, and I find that sometimes when applying this I get some on my teeth as it’s too large for my upper lip, so I do prefer the classic round shape of a lip balm. However, because of the thin, oval shape of the lip balm, it fits perfectly in your wallet.

Description of Coconut Flavour:

“Hurraw! Coconut Lip Balm is a soothing, creamy fresh coconut concoction! Not too beachy, just a little toasty, this warm coconut is subtle yet delicious. Hurraw! Balms are all natural, vegan, organic and fair trade. Especially formulated to be super smooth, non-sticky, non-sweet and long-lasting, Hurraw! Balms are premium quality and the perfect size to take with you.”

This lip balm is definitely very moisturising and smooth on the lips, with a lovely warm coconut scent!

Ingredients: Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, ‡Euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, *Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, *Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, *Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, *Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, organic flavor, Tocopherols (sunflower)

*organic & cold pressed ‡wildcrafted

I love how minimal and transparent the ingredient list is. It’s also suitable for Vegans and is cruelty free!

Size: 4.3 g

Price: AUD $6.45.

I know that this may seem expensive for a lip balm, but I have had this for such a long time and still have so much left. I also lick my lips a lot and don’t want to swallowing nasty chemicals. When you look at the quality of the ingredients, being vegan, raw and organic, then this is definitely worth it.

KORA ORGANICS Exfoliating Cream Review

exfoliating-cream_1

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing a product I used a while ago, the KORA ORGANICS Exfoliating Cream. Usually I save a product to take pictures and write a review, but unfortunately I threw it out, however you can look up pictures online to see the consistency. I’m not a fan of the concept of a scrub that is made for both face and body as I think the face has much more delicate skin than the body. I’m always on the look out for the purest, most natural product out there, and I also love everything I’ve tried from the KORA range, which is why I gave this product a go. Unfortunately my skin (which is sensitive, dry and breakout prone) did not agree with this product and I found the scrub to be too scratchy for my liking. I ended up using this on my body, which didn’t do too bad of a job, but I found myself wanting to just get rid of it and use it all up, especially because the tube is so big. Back when Miranda Kerr first launched KORA I remember the first product I used was the scrub, so I thought I would give it a go, but the consistency is definitely very different and not how I remembered it.

I would also break out more than usual when I used this, which is a big no no for me. I will stick to my beloved Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub (recommended to me by my esthetician), which has the most perfect consistency and blend of natural and safe ingredients for people of all skin types. I will say though, I loved how cooling the KORA scrub felt on the skin (not sure what ingredient did this, maybe the oat flour?), especially if you’re skin is really hot and inflammed. The smell, like all KORA products, was absolutely divine and smelt very woodsy like Chamomoile and Bamboo. Even though my skin felt soft after, it didn’t compare to how baby soft my skin feels with the Dermalogica scrub. Even though the Kora scrub was really scratchy, I didn’t feel like it did a whole lot of scrubbing and would sometimes hurt to use on my sensitive skin. I love how thick and creamy, scrubby the Dermalogica one is as it never feels like too much, whereas the KORA one felt more runny and the bead particles were definitely larger. With facial scrubs, you have to be careful with not using scratchy, large beads as it could cut your skin and cause scarring.

Description on Website:

“KORA Organics Exfoliating Cream contains a unique blend of organically grown Oat Flour and Bamboo to gently buff away dead skin cells helping to reveal a smoother, softer complexion. KORA Organics gentle and effective exfoliant is filled with Essential Oils to nourish and cleanse the skin and is gentle enough to be used on all skin types including sensitive skin.”

Ingredients:

Matricaria chamomilla (recutita – chamomile) *, Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera ) Leaf juice*, Olivoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Macadamia integrifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil *, Bambusa arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Extract, Stearic Acid, Avena sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour*, Morinda citrifolia (Noni Fruit) Extract *, Dicaprylyl Ether, Persea gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, Rosa eglentaria (Rose Hip) Oil*, d-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Soyabean derived Natural Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Santalum spicatum (Sandalwood) Oil*, Citrus reticulata (Mandarin)Oil*, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil*, Citrus aurantifolia (Lime) Oil*, Citrus aurantium ssp.bergamia (Bergamot) Oil*, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Lecithin (GMO free)*, Potassium Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, Sodium chloride (macrobiotic sea salt solution), Beta Carotene, Olea europaea (Olive) Oil, Aqua (Water), limonene**. **From essential oils. *Ingredient from Organic Farming.

PROUDLY AUSTRALIAN MADE AND OWNED. NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS. VEGAN.

Scent: Very pleasant, subtle woodsy chamomile/bamboo scent. Very calming and herbal smelling. My favourite thing about Kora products is always the smell!

Consistency: Not a fan. It was more of a thin, runny, scratchy consistency, meaning you would use a lot more product.

Longevity: Although amazing how large the tube is and how much product you get, I find it too bulky and hard to store. I wish it would come in a smaller size. If you were to only use this on your face, it would last you a very long time.

Size: 100 mL / 3.38 fl.oz.

Skin Type: Although it’s recommended for all types, I believe this would be better suited fro someone with thicker, oilier skin that is not sensitive.

Price: AU$54.95

Rating: 2.5/5

Recommend? Sadly, I would not recommend this product, especially if you have very sensitive skin that is easily irritated. In that case, I would recommend the Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub. Maybe the Kora scrub will be better suited to people with thicker skin who can take a lot of scrubbing.
