Vanessa Megan Rose Water Spray Toner Review

IMG_9534.jpgHello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Vanessa Megan Rose Water Spray Toner. I was on the search for an all natural and certified organic pure rose water spray as a makeup setting spray to help make my skin look more dewy as I have really dry skin. The only other rose water spray I have tried was one from MV Organics which I found to be too oily and heavy for my skin because it contained rose oil as well as other ingredients. I find the Vanessa Megan rose water spray to be a better option for my skin as it is light but also very hydrating and soothing as the same time.

Description as on Website:

Vanessa Megan Rose Water Spray (100ml) is a pure, certified organic Rose Hydrosol. Wonderful as a natural toner and spritzer, it leaves skin hydrated and refreshed. It also makes for a fab makeup refresher and hydrating travel companion.

Rose Otto Hydrosol ‘Super’ (Certified Organic) is produced using beautiful, Bulgarian organic roses. This is not a bi-product of essential oil distillation, instead it has been produced exclusively for its highly fragrant rose water.

Rosewater is suited to all skin types. It controls and balances sebum production, making it ideal for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore skin’s Ph and help reduce open pores. Its antibacterial properties help fight acne giving troubled skin a gentle, rather than harsh treatment. It is also known to be useful in the treatment of dermatitis.

About the Company:

Vanessa Megan is an aspiring and passionate Australian company created by Vanessa Gray to give customers visible skin results with luxurious, eco-friendly, natural and organic skin care products that have been scientifically proven. Every single Vanessa Megan product has been designed to meet the uncompromising standard of this statement: “You should never put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat.”

I absolutely love what the company stands for, I love supporting Australian brands, and their products are quite affordable for the high quality ingredients.

Rose water is known for its many cosmetic benefits, such as:

-Maintaining skin’s natural pH balance.

-Helps fight against eczema, acne, rosacea and dermatitis.

-Helps heal scars, wounds, and cuts.

-Hydrates and moisturises dry, dull skin, making it feel and look smooth.

-Cooling and soothing to the skin, which is especially great for sensitive and inflammed, dry skin!

-Helps even out skin tone.

-Antibacterial properties

-Helps revitalise ageing skin, keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

The scent is absolutely divine! Very calming and soothing. It doesn’t linger on your skin though, so you won’t smell like a bouquet of roses (unfortunately).  It uses the highest quality Bulgarian roses to produce this luxurious scent. It’s not overpowering at all, just simply delicious.

The way I use this toner is both as a makeup setting spray, over my Jane Iredale Purepressed Base, to give a more dewy look, or I spray this throughout the day over my moisturiser to hydrate and even out skin tone, whilst also bringing down any inflammation I have.

I love how pure and simple this product is as it contains only one ingredient, 100% natural and certified organic rose water hydrosol. It is also Australian made, Australian Certified Organic (the highest certification for food and cosmetics), vegan, and not tested on animals!

The packaging is a let down for me. Although I love the glass bottle and butterfly detail, the sprayer is just terrible. It sprays so uneven and doesn’t spray where you position it, which in turn wastes product (The KORA rose mist nozzle is amazing with even application of the fine mist). I love how the glass bottle is dark so that the sunlight doesn’t spoil the product inside, but it is also transparent enough for you to see how much product you have left.

This rose water spray has not broken me out once, but has made my skin a lot better. If I do have any breakouts, this is very helpful and soothing to areas of inflammation. It definitely gives you a nice, healthy glow, smoothing out the skin. It never makes your skin oily or too heavy feeling, just very refreshed and comfortably hydrated. As for the evening out of the skin tone, I feel like I need to use this over a long period of time to see results.

The price comes to AUD$29.95 for 100ml. I think it’s very affordable considering the quality of the rose water, the amount you get, and how much comes out with one spray, making it last for months.

I highly recommend rosewater to anyone suffering from dry, ageing, sensitive skin that is also prone to breakouts and inflammation. Although I love the product inside, I do wish they would fix the sprayer to provide a more even and fine mist application. Because of this issue, I will not be repurchasing this product.

JJ Labs Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) 25% with Pure Hyaluronic Acid Anti Aging Serum Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the JJ Labs Vitamin C Serum 25%. Unfortunately I don’t have the bottle anymore to do swatches as I couldn’t finish using it up. Personally for me, I can pretty much tell from the first couple of uses if a new product is right for me or not. I have used this serum around 2-3 times and unfortunately it didn’t agree with my skin. As it is winter in Australia, my skin gets extremely dry and my smile lines around my mouth tend to be more apparent, especially when I wear makeup. I purchased this serum in the hopes of adding extra hydration to my thirsty skin as I research the incredible benefits of applying hyaluronic acid to the skin. I had also wanted to use a vitamin c serum to help lighten my uneven skin tone. I also loved how simple and pure the ingredient list was. While there were some amazing immediate results from using this serum for only a couple of uses, it unfortunately broke me out. It did however make my skin feel more soft, supple, and incredibly hydrated and glowing just after the first use. It tightens your skin, making it feel as though you had a face lift. Although it did significantly decrease my smiles lines and how prominent they were, especially when wearing my powder foundation, I would always break out with every use. This serum comes in five different strengths for different skin types, so I might have purchased one too strong for my skin type. Here are the different strengths:

1. Vitamin C 10%- For sensitive skin
2. Vitamin C 15%- For dry skin
3. Vitamin C 20%- For all skin types
4. Vitamin C 25%- For oily or mature skin or skin with clogged pores
5. High Potency Vitamin C PH 4.5 – For Sensitive Skin Type(those who too sensitive for PH 3.5)

Although I have dry, sensitive skin, I purchased the 25% potency because it said it was for mature skin/skin with clogged pores, so I thought it would be more hydrating and potent and prevent and heal any breakouts faster. If I were to try this serum again in the future, I would try either the 10% or 15% strength.

Item Description:

“Many leadings scientists highly recommend applying vitamin C onto the face daily to protect against UV-induced cell damage. Vitamin C has many other beneficial properties, including being one of the few ingredients that has a scientific base to show that it reverses signs of aging for your skin. Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid) has been shown to stimulate collagen, decrease wrinkle depth, and have lightening effects on pigmentation. Hyaluronic acid, also known as HA, is a natural compound found in skin that has many important functions, including holding in moisture, providing cushioning, aiding in tissue repair, holding together the skin and helping create a protective barrier against microorganisms. Vitamin C Serum 25% with pure hyaluronic acid is effective at moisturizing skin cells, which prevents water loss and protects the skin from dirt and other pollutants. Hyaluronic acid delivers AND holds water in the skin. Hyaluronic acid based products are considered extremely safe. We keep our product for topical use only so as to reduce the chances of this! Repeated use of hyaluronic acid will maintain moisture levels in the skin, preventing skin dehydration.”

Ingredients: Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid), Hyaluronic Acid, Potassium sorbate, Citric Acid, Distilled Water.

Directions: Apply twice a day, once in the morning before your normal moisturizing routine and again in the evening to a cleansed face. As the serum is concentrated, using a small amount, such as 1-2 drops, is recommended. Increase amount as desired. Refrigerator storage is recommended.

Texture/Feel: When first applied, the serum feels very tacky and sticky, but once it dries it feels incredibly smooth and soft. The serum isn’t too runny, but it’s not too thick either. It is easily spread all over the face and you don’t need to use a lot, about 2 drops will do the entire face, however you have to spread it quickly because it is sticky/tacky feeling and dries very fast. I’m not too crazy over the gloopy feel of this serum. Also, beware that if you have any open wounds, this will sting upon application.

Smell: I can’t really describe the smell, however it isn’t pleasant. The smell doesn’t linger on your face after applying which is good.

-Hydrated, smooth skin.

-Fine lines significantly decreased.

-Smoother makeup application.

-Plump, tight, younger looking skin,

-Glowing skin.

-Caused breakouts.

-Consistency sticky and tacky at first.

-Smell isn’t pleasant.

Size: 30 ml.

Price: AUD $18.82

Rating: 2.5/5

Recommend? I would definitely recommend this product for more mature skins as it immediately and effectively increases moisture in the skin, giving a more youthful appearance. However, make sure to choose the right strength for your skin type. My skin is very sensitive and breakout prone, so this may work wonders for somebody else.

Clarisea Sea Salt Solutions: Clarifying Salt Treatment Review

Screen Shot 2014-12-05 at 1.49.35 pm

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing my holy grail body scrub. I was looking for a natural and simple solution to help with my body breakouts. My skin really responds well to natural and simple (in terms of the number of ingredients) products. The skin on my body is similar to my face, in that it is very sensitive, dry, and breakout prone if I use oily products, which is why I use water based products. This product is especially amazing during the summer months when your skin is a little more oily. It can also be used various different ways. You can just use it as a body scrub, as it is just course enough but not too abrasive, or you can use a few scoops of it in your bath and soak in it for its full benefits.

I don’t take baths often, so I have not soaked in it yet, but I feel as though I do still get the benefits of it when using it as a body scrub. I could not be happier with how radiant and clear the skin on my body looks! I have tried everything, and this is the best stuff! What initially attracted me to this Clarisea product was the fact that they saw and understood the benefits of sea salt minerals in the ocean and its effect on the skin. I did always notice how clear my skin looked after swimming in the ocean, so I thought that the concept of bringing that to your bathroom was a fantastic idea!

About Clarisea from their Website:

“Swimming in the ocean clears up your skin. Why? Because the minerals in the ocean work naturally with the pH balance of your skin to return it to its purest state. The sodium chloride is a natural cleanser and deep pore exfoliant. It fights bacteria on the surface of skin while drawing out impurities from deep within pores. With the help of gently exfoliating sand, blemishes are brought to the surface and flushed out while redness is minimized and moisture re-balanced.”

“The Sea Salt Solutions system works because it brings the skin clarifying effects of the ocean into your own bathroom in 2 easy steps: Soak (salt water) & Scrub (sand). Unlike most sea salts, clarisea salts are gentle enough for sensitive facial skin yet strong enough to help banish the blemishes. During the first few weeks of use they draw out blemishes from deep within pores, gradually revealing a clearer and more natural complexion.”

Everything that is stated in the description is 100% true for me. This product deeply exfoliates, bringing any blackheads or dirt to the surface, and then heals the blemishes so fast it’s incredible. I cannot be happier with how clear the skin on my body looks and I rarely get anymore breakouts!

Description of the Clarifying Salt Treatment:

“This 100% natural fine grain blend of Pacific Ocean and Himalayan Pink Sea Salt naturally combats breakouts without over-drying or irritating skin. While you soak, sodium chloride deeply cleanses and exfoliates clogged pores. Existing blemishes heal more quickly and emerging breakouts are brought to the surface and flushed out. Essential sea minerals including potassium, magnesium and calcium work to tone, soften and smooth out skin while minimizing redness and balancing moisture. With regular use this cycle repeats and skin is returned to its most natural state.”

Ingredients: Sea Salt (Pacific Ocean), Mineral Salt (Himalayan Pink).

How to use:

As a Natural Cleanser and Exfoliant: Add a touch of water to a small amount of salt and rub gently into skin in a circular motion for a few seconds. Rinse off completely with cool water. Not intended for use on the most sensitive skin. If redness or irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately. Avoid use on fresh cuts and scabs.”

Even though I have sensitive skin, the skin on my body can handle this scrub only if I use it the way it is intended. You must add a little water with the salt otherwise it will be too abrasive. You must also use luke warm-cold water otherwise your skin will be irritated if you use hot water. And definitely don’t use this on any open wounds as it will sting!

Consistency/Feel: It is literally salt, but a really fine milled soft kind of salt. It is light pink in colour from the Himalayan salt, which is so pretty! The feel is definitely grainy, but you must add a little water in your hand before scrubbing to dissolve the salt a little so it isn’t too abrasive for people with sensitive skin.

Packaging: This product comes in a very generous sized plastic tub. The 38 oz. size comes with a little scoop which is really amazing for getting the product out and into your hand. It is quite a bulky and large product, especially the 80 oz. size.

Longevity: I first had the 38 oz. tub for around a whole year! I only scrubbed my body around 1-2 times a week, and you only need a small amount. I now have the 80 oz. which I think will last me even longer!

Size: You can purchase this product in 3 different sizes. The first is the 38 oz. size, then the 80 oz. size, and finally a 15 lb bag size.

Price: Price varies for each size. the 38 oz. is around AUD $20. The 80 oz. is around AUD $27. I think that this product is very reasonably priced considering how well it works, how much product you get, and how incredibly long it lasts.

Recommend? 100 % YES!

Rating: 5/5

Where to Buy: I purchased mine from aveyou boutique, which ships really fast. The only thing that I dislike about the website is the shipping price to Australia. I’m sure you can also find this on Amazon as well.

Chemical Vs. Physical Sunscreens: Choosing the Safest Option

Screen Shot 2014-11-18 at 1.58.13 pm

Hello Beauties!

Since it is almost summer here in Australia, I thought I would make a blog post about the difference between chemical and physical sunscreens. Although, you should be wearing sunscreen all year round, especially here in Australia, the sun is more harsh in the summer months. It is so important to protect your skin from sun damage as well as skin cancer. Before doing my own research, I never knew that conventional sunscreens, or chemical sunscreens, could do more damage than good. You would expect a sunscreen to protect you from the sun, not expose you to more damage by allowing the sun’s rays to be easily absorbed into the skin.

To see what type of sunscreen ingredient/s is used in your product, look at the ACTIVE ingredient list.

Ingredients to AVOID in Sunscreens (Chemical):

-Octinoxate (Octylmethoxycinnamate)

-Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A Palmitate)

Basically, anything other than Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide, should be avoided.

These toxic, chemical ingredients, used in almost all conventional sunscreens, should be avoided due to thier ability to deeply penetrate the skin, causing allergic reactions and are known hormone disruptors. This is why many people avoid wearing sunscreen because they say it breaks them out. Not only are these toxic ingredients not offering the best possible broad spectrum protection, they are also damaging to your health!

Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, minerals that occur in nature, offer the best broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays.

Ingredients that are SAFE in Sunscreens (Physical):

-Zinc Oxide

-Titanium Dioxide

These two ingredients are incredible not only because of the broad sun protection they provide, but they also help heal such skin conditions as acne! You should also choose non-nano particle sized Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, so that the minerals sit on top of the skin to act as a physcial barrier, rather than being absorbed into the skin. Most of the time, a product will state this on their labelling.

You should choose a mineral sunscreen that has an SPF of 15-20 to be the safest. It is a common misconception that the higher the spf, the more protection you get. However, the protection you get isn’t correlative to the numbers. For example, an SPF of 10 means 90% of UVB rays are blocked. There is plenty of research out there on SPF and the percentage of protection each offers. Basically, don’t be fooled by marketing schemes with higher SPFs!

I personally wear and love the Jane Iredale Purepressed base in Warm Silk (review here). It not only offers broad spectrum sun protection, but it is also approved by the Skin Cancer Council, offering an SPF of 20! It gives amazing buildable coverage, is water resistant, look flawless and natural, has incredible staying power, and heals any hormonal breakouts I may have! It is honestly such a wonderful multitasking product recommended to me by my beautician!

There are many other mineral sunscreens out there to choose from. All you need to look for in the active ingredient list is either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, or both! Other great brands that offer mineral sunscreen include; Inika’s mineral foundation SPF 15 (they also offer a liquid foundation with SPF) that is more sheer in coverage, and Mukti’s Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15. I would really recommend the Jane Iredale if you are looking for an all round fabulous and affordable (considering what it does and the quality) mineral foundation sunscreen.

I hope this helped you beauties out there in making the safest choices about the sunscreen you wear! Please be safe this summer and have fun! I would love to know what is your favourite mineral sunscreen brand?

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick & Lush Fruit Lip Gloss Reviews

Hello Beauties!

photo 1

Today I will be reviewing the Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipsticks in Retsina, Fig, as well as the Lychee/Musk duo, and the Lush Fruit Lip glosses in Rambutan and Peach. What sparked my interest with this brand is that the ingredients are completely natural and food grade, so you can essentially eat them! I am a huge lip product fanatic, and I’m always conscious about what I put on my lips and that it isn’t going to be harmful. Bite beauty is a Canadian brand that specialises in lip products; ranging from lip crayons to lipsticks, glosses, lip scrubs, and a lip moisture mask.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick duo in Lychee/Musk

photo 2

I purchased this product when I saw it in the checkout line. There are two available duos you can get. This one and another that is more vibrant and daring. I chose to stick with this duo because I am more comfortable with natural nude/pink shades. I love how affordable this is, and it is very small and portable, great for carrying around in your purse. I love how it allows you to try out two shades of lipstick, with a decent amount of product, which is about half the price of one lipstick. The only thing I didn’t like about this, was how easily the lipstick broke off. But to be fair, I had it in my car and it was hot and so the lipstick melted a bit. Nonetheless, the shades are quite universal and I think it will suit many skin tones. I also love the fact that each lipstick is helping you reduce wrinkles on the lips, as it contains the key ingredient, Resveratrol (equiv. of 2 glasses of red wine!). Although the creme lipsticks are very creamy and moisturizing, you definitely cannot wear them if you have chapped, dry lips. They need to be completely smooth. One thing I don’t like about them is they leave a film on your lips when you first apply, or if you apply too much, especially with the lighter shades. I would suggest to really pat and build the colour slowly to avoid this. The lipsticks are so pigmented, so you only need to apply a small amount to get great colour payoff! I also absolutely love the smell of the lipsticks! It wears pretty well on the lips, especially for a food grade lipstick.

Lychee is described as a light neutral pink, which is spot on! This is probably the easiest and most wearable of all the shades I have. It gives you a sheer wash of baby pink across the lips, which is perfect for everyday. I really enjoy this colour, and prefer it over musk. This is more of a youthful and flattering colour on me. I don’t think they offer this shade in full size though.

photo 5 photo 6

Musk is described as a pink/brown colour. It is definitely more on the browny side, very similar to my beloved RMS beauty lip to cheek in Promise, but more brown. Again, the shade is ok, but I find it too brown and ageing for me. I prefer lighter, pinky colours. I think it is more of a wintery shade. It reminds me  a lot of the 90s brown lipstick shades. I’m pretty sure you can purchase this in full size.

L-R: Musk, Lychee

L-R: Musk, Lychee

I think that this neutral duo is perfect to give a try, especially if you are new to the brand and you are not sure you want to pay the money for a full size lipstick. The colours are definitely very wearable and flattering.

Luminous Creme Lipstick in Retsina:

photo 8 photo 9

“A lush, long-lasting, moisture-rich lip colour.”

“This lip color delivers super antioxidant resveratrol, which fights free radicals with potent long-term antiaging benefits. Each lipstick contains the amount of resveratrol found in five glasses of red wine.”

“This product is free of synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts and made exclusively with lip nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat.”

Price: US $24

Size: 0.15 oz. You do get quite a bit of product, so it will last you forever!

Shade: Retsina is described as a natural pink. Although, I would classify it more as a beige nude shade. It is the first nude colour I have ever owned. Surprisingly, I really like the colour. I didn’t think it would suit my fair complexion, but it really is flattering and natural. You definitely need to have exfoliated lips to wear this as well. The colour lasts quite a while on my lips, which is impressive for a food grade product. The scent is my favourite. It’s quite hard to describe; almost a mixture of doughy and fruity. I love the packaging as well; it is very sleek and simple which I like. This shade goes perfectly with Bite’s Lush Fruit Lipgloss in Rambutan to create the perfect wearable nude lip!

Recommend? Yes! Especially if you are new to nude shades. This would definitely be an easier transition for you as it is so natural and pretty.

Rating: 5/5

Luminous Creme Lipstick in Fig:

photo 10 photo 11

Fig is described as a nude rose shade, which is very true. This is probably my favourite colour out of them all, just because I love this shade of pink and it is the closest to my natural lip colour. It has fast become my everyday lip colour. It is so easy to wear and very pretty on the lips. It is also the most moisturising and pigmented. I would definitely recommend and repurchase this colour!

Lush Fruit Lipgloss in Rambutan

photo 12 photo 13 photo 14

“A highly pigmented lip gloss featuring healthy fruit ingredients that are delicious enough to eat.”

“Like instant nutrition for lips, BITE’s Lush Fruit Lip Gloss contains the same healthy ingredients you’d find in a pure fruit smoothie: real coconut, mango, and strawberry infused with seven nourishing fruit oils. Rich, vibrant, and juicy, this modern formula is highly pigmented. What you see in the container is exactly the color you’ll see on your lips.”

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

“Pure and nourishing strawberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, coconut, mango, apricot, and avocado oils: Fight free radicals that can cause aging of the lip line.”
“Trans-Resveratrol: Provides proven antioxidant benefits for long-term repair of the visible signs of ageing.”

Ingredients: Polypropanediol Dimer Dilinoleate (Vegetable Source), Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil (And) Hydrogenated Castor Oil (And) Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax (And) Beeswax, Pentaerythrityl Tetrabehenate/Polyhydroxystearate, Polyamide-8, Organic Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) Oil, Ricnus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil (And) Glyceryl Rosinate (And) Glyceryl Oleate (And) Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables.

Price: US $22

Size: 0.11 oz. Again

Shade: Rambutan is described as a peachy nude. When I first saw the colour, I thought that it would be too brown and unflattering on me, but turns out it is perfect; a very wearable nude pink shade. It also has a lot of pigment, so it’s beautiful to wear on its own. It goes perfect with Retsina as they are essentially the same colour. The formula is not my favourite as it is very sticky and hard to work with, however I like that after it has worn off your lips are still so moisturised. It lasts quite a while on the lips because it’s so sticky. I quite like the scent/flavour of this as it’s fruity. I constantly lick my lips, so it’s important that my lip products have a pleasant flavour.

Recommend? Depends on whether you like sticky lip glosses or not.

Rating: 3/5

Lush Fruit Lipgloss in Peach

photo 18 photo 19

Peach is described as a baby pink, which is spot on, but the name is really misleading. I love how feminine and girly this shade is. It is a very wearable, natural baby pink shade. With both glosses, you need to be careful how much you apply, because if you put too much on it can settle in the lines on your lips. With lighter lip colours, you need to be more careful about exfoliating your lips as it can cling onto everything and make it so much more noticeable. I prefer the shade Rambutan over this as it is more wearable for my fair complexion.

Recommend? I personally do not reach for this shade as much as Rambutan. And again depends on whether you like sticky lipgloss.

Ilia Beauty “Pink Kashmir” Lipstick Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the gorgeous certified organic lipstick from Ilia Beauty in the colour Pink Kashmir (limited edition). I decided to invest more in natural, certified organic lipsticks because whatever you put on your lips, you eventually end up ingesting. With all the chemicals that are contained within mainstream lipsticks, women ingest around 7 pounds of lipstick a year, which is very alarming! This is the second brand of certified organic lipstick I have yet tried, and I must say I am blown away by the quality. Not only are the ingredients of the highest quality, but it also performs as well, if not better than most mainstream lipsticks. What I love about Ilia beauty as a brand, is that they seamlessly blend organic with modern fashion, catering to the everyday, stylish woman.

Founder of Ilia beauty, Sasha Plavsic’s philosophy:

“Somebody recently said to me, that because it’s organic it’s good for you, and it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work as well as the mainstream stuff – I intend to change their mind.”

Description on Website:

“Inspired by the colours of India and Pakistan, Pink Kashmir is ILIA’s standout shade for spring and summer.

ILIA Lipstick combines organic ingredients with contemporary colours that can be layered to create your own personalised shade.”

photo 1 photo 2

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Seed Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Beeswax (Cera Alba)*, Triisostearyl Citrate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Manihot Esculenta (Tapioca) Starch*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina (Rose Hip) Fruit Oil, Sage (Salvia Officinalis) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol.

*certified organic ingredients

photo 3 photo 4

Colour: This colour is very vibrant, but not too neon on the lips. It’s a very cool toned pink, which unfortunately doesn’t go with my fair skin colour. With one swipe, the colour is very pigmented and perfect for the spring and summer.

Texture/Feel: This is by far the best texture of any organic lipstick I have yet to try (beside Bite Beauty). It is very creamy and conditioning to the lips. It never dries them out, yet sets to a nice semi-matte.

Size: 3.5 g

Price: AUD $34.00. Although this lipstick is quite pricey, it will last you forever! It’s so pigmented and you can’t beat the high quality ingredients contained within it.

Packaging: I love the aluminium packaging! It’s very sleek, modern, and high quality.

Longevity: Not only is there a generous amount of product, there is so much pigmentation, that this lipstick will last you forever. It also lasts quite a long time on my lips as it dries to a semi-matte. I would say it lasts for me around 6-7 hours, considering I lick my lips a lot!

Recommend? Definitely! Although I’m not a fan of the colour on me, the actual formulation is quite nice.

Rating: 3/5

Where to Buy: Unfortunately this shade is limited edition and sold out at the moment! However you can keep looking back on the website or search for it on the Ilia Beauty website.

RMS Beauty “Un” Powder Review

Hi Beauties!

Today, I will be reviewing the RMS Beauty “Un” Powder. RMS Beauty is by far one of my favourite all natural and organic cosmetic lines out there. Why this powder is called “Un” powder is because it will not look like you are wearing any powder at all, as it is incredibly light and invisible on the skin. As my skin is very sensitive and reactive, I have to be really careful what I put on it. The RMS “Un” powder is perfect because it only contains one ingredient! I originally had bought this powder as I was in search for a good translucent setting powder to use all over my face. However, because my skin is very dry and I already use a mineral powder foundation, I couldn’t really find a use for this powder. Until, one day I discovered that this powder is great for filling in fine lines, in particular my smile lines, as well as to set the RMS un cover up concealer underneath my eyes!

Description on Website:

“The one and only powder you will ever need. This ultra fine, light reflective powder is the ultimate finish to perfect looking skin. A virtually invisible powder that minimizes the appearance of pores, softens the skin and absorbs oil.

Works synergistically with rms beauty “un” cover-up to create a silky second skin.
Suits every skin tone and adds no white residue.

Talc free, silicone free, perfume free and paraben free.”

Ingredients: Silica

Feel: This powder feels so incredibly smooth and silky on the skin. It is also very light, so it feels as though there is nothing on your skin.

Application: Although this powder does come with a powder puff, I couldn’t really find a use for it. I use the Real techniques Base Shadow Brush from the Starter set. However, you can use any small eyeshadow or concealer brush you have. After I have applied my mineral foundation, I lightly press my brush into the product, tap off the excess, and press around my eye area to set my concealer. For my smile lines, I apply the powder in both a buffing and pressing motion to fill in the line.

The Difference Between “Natural,” “Organic,” and “Certified Organic” Beauty Products

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be explaining to you the difference between the terms used in a lot of “natural” beauty products out there because there is a lot of false and misleading advertisement within the beauty industry. I feel as customers we should have the right to know about exactly what is in the products we are using in terms of ingredients. The ingredient list should be clearly displayed at the back of each product so that we are able to check that the product is exactly as is advertised. I feel as though there is a lot of false advertisement within the beauty industry because they know that not everyone can read an ingredient list and know that the labels used, such as “natural” and “organic,” apply to each ingredient. What I see a lot in beauty products, is the term “natural” being advertised when there is only one ingredient within the whole list that is naturally derived, and it is usually placed further down the ingredient list (meaning that there is less of or hardly any of the “natural” ingredient used). I personally feel as though there should be stricter regulations when it comes down to the advertisement of how “natural” a product really is, because nowadays it is really misleading.

When the term “natural” is labelled on beauty products, this can mean that a product contains only one ingredient that is “naturally derived,” and the rest of the ingredient list is synthetic. The label “natural” is certified by no one, so it can be advertised to be as misleading as possible. It’s also shocking to note that currently, there are no regulations around the use of the label “natural” within the Australian beauty market. “Organic” is also another misleading label used that is becoming increasingly popular amongst beauty products. It is used to label a product that only contains at least 70-95% of organic and natural ingredients. For a beauty product to be as organic and as clean as possible, you need a stamp of certification for it to be “Certified Organic.” A product that is “Certified Organic” is of the highest quality or most organic you can get, as a product must meet strict guidelines before getting a stamp of approval. In Australia, for a product to label itself as “Certified Organic,” it must contain at least 95% of organic ingredients, free from harmful synthetic chemicals. Always check the product for a “Certified Organic” logo from an accredited certifier; ACO (Australia), OFC (Australia), Ecocert (Europe), USDA Organic (US), NASAA (Australia), Demeter (Australia), TOP (Australia) and Soil Association (UK). I hope you found this information helpful when searching for truly organic beauty products on the market!

Valentine’s Day Makeup Look (Using Mostly Natural Products)

Hello Beauties!

I have a Valentine’s Day look for you, inspired by Jessica Biel’s character in the movie, “Valentine’s Day.” This look uses mostly natural makeup, however if you don’t have access to most of the products mentioned, you can swap products for what you have already! I absolutely love her simple, yet feminine look in the movie. The pink, flirtacious lips are definitely the main focus of this look. Whether you’re spending Valentine’s Day with loved ones, your boyfriend, or your girlfriends, this look is very versatile! Enjoy!

-Biel’s character wears a matte, but natural base. I would recommend the Jane Iredale PurePressed Base, with the Inika Kabuki Brush. Not only can it build up to full coverage (using the Jane Iredale Flocked Sponge), it looks very natural and lasts a long time. It’s also made with natural mineral ingredients that are gentle and good for your skin! If you need to conceal any blemishes, only SPOT conceal with your favourite concealer.

-If you have any under eye circles or simply want to brighten up the under eye area, I recommend the RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up. Not only is it very creamy and moisturizing, it’s certified organic with healing coconut oil to help nourish the under eye area, erasing any fine lines.

-To help set the RMS Un-Cover Up, I love using the RMS “Un” Powder. It’s made of 100% Silica, and it is VERY soft. It helps to lock the un cover up in place, as well as to help it not crease throughout the day. It’s also fantastic for laugh lines or any where you have wrinkle or crease. If you don’t have access to this product, you can use a little bit of the Jane Iredale Purepressed base on a small brush and sweep it under the eye area.

-Biel’s cheeks are of a very peachy, pink shade (though more on the peachy side). I would recommend the Inika Mineral Blush in Peachy Keen. Though this blush is VERY pigmented, it can be applied very sheerly with a light hand. Not only is it a mineral blush crushed from the Earth, it’s performance and colour are truly amazing! It gives you that natural healthy, radiant glow from within.

-Although Biel doesn’t appear to have any black eyeliner on her bottom waterline, her top waterline is very defined and dark. I would recommend the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray, under the lashes on your top waterline. It gives your eyes that dark, feline sultry look, perfect for Valentine’s Day. If you wanted to add some definition to your bottom lash line, lightly smudge a light-medium brown eyeshadow.

-Biel definitely has a cat like, feminine eye look in this movie. I would suggest using the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black. The colour is a very beautiful rich black, that lasts on the eye all day. The applicator is also very easy to use, so you can control the thickness of your desired cat eye. Cat eyes, though a simple look, it can be very sexy, sultry and feminine.

-My favourite all time mascara! If you want those full, false looking lashes, this mascara is for you! The Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara, gives you those feminine, flirty lashes, perfect for Valentine’s Day!

-This step is optional if your not a lip liner girl, however the Victoria’s Secret Lip Liner in Blushing Nude is my favourite. It’s a perfect rosy nude colour that blends with your natural lip colour, to give you a bit more definition and shape.

-The RMS Beauty LipShine in Sacred is a pretty spot on colour for Jessica Biel’s lip colour in the movie. It’s the perfect fuschia, hot pink romantic colour for Valentine’s Day. It glides on effortlessly, made with certified organic ingredients, so you won’t be ingesting any nasty chemicals! It compliments the Inika Mineral Blush in “Peachy Keen” very well. It is very pigmented so you only need a small amount. This product is definitely a must have! If you can’t get your hands on this products, other similar dupes include; Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom or the Maybelline Baby Lips in Baby Pink.

Ilia Beauty’s Lip Gloss in Heartbeat, is made with certified organic ingredients that help to nourish the lips. This colour is a hot pink, reddish colour that is sheer-medium buildable in colour. It compliments RMS Beauty’s Lip Shine in Sacred PERFECTLY. It is my go to lip combination. It’s not overpowering on the lips as it looks very natural. This colour is perfect for those girls, like me, who are intimidated by wearing a red lip. It gives you enough colour, but not too much to the point that you are self conscious about the colour.

-The Victoria’s Secret Pink “Sweet and Flirty” Body Mist, is a perfect scent for Valentine’s Day. It’s definitely the scent for those girly girls who like the sweeter fragrances!

Jane Iredale So-Bronze 1 Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Jane Iredale Bronzer in So-Bronze 1 (the lightest shade). This is my first natural mineral bronzer that I have tried and I absolutely LOVE! It gives you that perfect sun kissed look without looking muddy or orange on my fair complexion. It literally looks like you’ve come back from the beach or a tropical holiday. Your skin is naturally bronzed and glowing. What I also love about this product (and Jane Iredale as a brand) is that it is made with quality ingredients, infusing nature with skincare makeup that doesn’t irritate or breakout out my sensitive skin.

“Brush on cheeks, nose, chin and forehead for the ultimate, sun-kissed look.”

“So-Bronze® 1 is a classic terra-cotta color with tiny specks of gold mica-not to add sparkle, but to add glow.”

photo 1

Ingredients: Mica, Boron Nitride, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Pine Bark Extract, Pomegranate Extract, Isopropyl Jojobate. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Carmine.

Shade: The So-Bronze comes in 3 different shades; So-Bronze 1, So-Bronze 2, and the So-Bronze 3. So-Bronze 1 is very true to its description; a terra-cotta shade. There’s definitely a red tone to it, which is perfect in giving you that naturally sun burnt/sunkissed look. It’s perfect for fair-light skin tones. It’s also very pigmented, so a small amunt goes a long way. You can also detect the small specks of the gold mica, which looks like sparkle, however it’s not detected on your skin. It just gives you a radiant glow. It’s not a matte, but not a shimmer bronzer, just a good in between radiant natural bronzer.

Look: The look is very natural and sun kissed. You can’t even tell that you are wearing bronzer! Use a light hand with this, as it’s pigmented. Place on cheekbones, temples, forehead, chin, and on the top of your nose or all over for a healthy, radiant glow.
