“LAVANILA Pure Vanilla: The Healthy Deodorant” Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the wonderful natural deodorant from LAVANILA, in the scent “Pure Vanilla.” I have been on the hunt for a good natural/healthy deodorant that didn’t contain any of the nasty and harsh chemicals found in common deodorants on the market, but yet performed as well as those deodorants. Why I chose to switch to a natural deodorant, was not only because of the amazing ingredients it contained, but also because i used to get eczema under my arms, which was very itchy and uncomfortable. After switching over, my eczema no longer exists! I don’t typically wear deodorant on a daily basis unless i’m going out for a while or if I know I will possibly be sweating a little, especially during the summer. I think it is especially important to think about converting to a more natural alternative to the conventional deodorants out there, because you do apply deodorant quite close to your chest area, and it’s also being absorbed in your sweat glands, possibly disrupting your hormones. Conventional deodorants do contain a lot of toxic and carcinogenic ingredients, such as aluminium, parabens (which is known to increase risk of breast cancer by off balancing your hormone levels), TEA, DEA, and much more. I strongly encourage all of you to make the healthy switch to more natural deodorants, as whatever you put on your skin, soaks in! The LAVANILA natural deodorant is a good choice for everyday use.

Ingredients (“Pure Vanilla Scent”): Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Water (Aqua), Propanediol (Corn derived Glycol), Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sodium Stearate, Silica, Carrageenan (Red Seaweed), Stearyl Behenate, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Inulin, Saccharomyces Ferment, Alpha Glucan Oligosaccharide, Yeast Beta Glucan, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Valerian (Valeriana Officinalis) Root Extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal) Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, Botanical Fragrance.

Size: 57g. Because this deodorant is solid, it lasts for a long time and you do get a lot of product.

Scent: The LAVANILA healthy deodorant comes in 6 different scents. I chose the “pure vanilla” scent. The scent is described as; “Essential oils of fresh Madagascar vanilla and freesia are comforting and clean. It goes on clean, with no sticky wetness, and delivers long-lasting, luxurious results. Notes: Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Freesia.” To me, this scent doesn’t smell like your traditional vanilla fragrance, however it is a very pleasant smell to me. This deodorant definitely smells very clean and fresh, almost like baby powder. The scent doesn’t smell obnoxious on you, once it soaks into your skin. Since trying the scent “Vanilla Coconut,” I have fallen in love with it.

Feel: This deodorant feels very silky soft and gentle on the skin. It is very conditioning, but not sticky, as it quickly absorbs into the skin.

Packaging: This is the first ever solid deodorant i have ever used, and i love it! The packaging twists the solid product up, which is great. However, after a while of use, it can take a while longer to twist up the product, which can get annoying. Also, some residue product can clump in the middle, however it is not that bothersome.

Price: This natural deodorant is reasonably priced, considering how long it lasts and the ingredients, at AUD $24.95.

Longevity: I have had this product over a few months now and still have a lot left, however as I said, I don’t wear deodorant everyday. In terms of the scent and keeping body odour away, I would say it lasts pretty much the whole day. The trick is to rub in the product and don’t let it just sit there. When I do this I find I don’t smell as much. However, if you are doing intense exercise, I don’t think this product will not hold up on you. This would be perfect for everyday wear.

Recommend? Yes, I would definitely recommend this product for everyday use. Especially you are someone that suffers from eczema under the arms, this deodorant will condition and nurture that area. However, if you are someone that does a lot of physical activity and produces a lot of sweat and body odour, this may not hold up on you for as long as you’d like. However, I don’t think there is a deodorant out there that does that. For the amount of product you get, the price, the quality of natural, non-toxic ingredients, you can’t beat this deodorant!
