RMS Beauty “Un”Cover-Up Review

Today I will be reviewing the very hyped about organic beauty product; the RMS Beauty “Un”Cover-Up. RMS Beauty, stands for Rose-Marie Swift, creator of the certified organic brand. The brand is used by many celebrities, including Miranda Kerr, Gisele Bundchen, Jessica Alba, and many more! I was first interested in this product because I was searching for a safe, certified organic concealer/foundation I could use on my “days off.” I wanted that natural look, without using any chemicals. As the name suggests, it is not supposed to mask your face, but rather “un” cover your natural beauty. When I discovered that supermodels and other “green” celebrities LOVED this product, I thought I would give it a go. I purchased mine about a year ago and it is still in good condition, despite the expiry date (it being a completely unrefined, unprocessed, food grade product). I will say it takes a few goes to get used to this product in finding the best way to apply it for you.

Colour Range: The RMS Un Cover-Up now comes in 5 beautiful shades, adding one lighter and one darker shade to the collection. I have mine in shade #11, which is perfect for my light complexion (warm silk in Jane Iredale Purepressed Base). It definitely has a yellow undertone, which is perfect for correcting any redness or pink in the skin. As stated in the description, if a colour doesn’t match you completely, once blended it will definitely self adjust to your skin tone.

Packaging: This is by far the most stylish, chic, and beautiful packaging of a product I have ever come across, especially for an organic brand. It comes in a small pot, made of frosted glass, with a gorgeous, simple RMS Beauty logo on the white lid. It is also great because it is portable, so you can take it in your purse wherever you go for touchups.

Longevity: I don’t use this product everyday, but when I do you only need the smallest amount. It really does go a long way. I’d say i’ve now had this for about a year, and it is still in great condition and I still have quite a lot of product left. However, if you were to use this as a concealer or foundation, you might go through it quicker because it is quite small.

Application: Because of the ingredients that are very comedogenic with my skin (it definitely breaks me out), I only use it as an under eye concealer, which is perfect to brighten that area up. It blends very effortlessly, especially with your fingers, as it melts the product into your skin better. I first pat the product under my eyes, then I go in with my Real Techniques deluxe crease brush, and finally with a beauty blender to make sure there is no creasing. I then put a small amount of the RMS “Un” powder on top to prevent creasing throughout the day.

Coverage: The coverage of this product is very natural, however if you put too much on, it can look cakey and feel heavy on the skin. You only need a small amount. I would use patting motions on top of areas that need more coverage. I would say it is a sheer to medium buildable coverage all over, but it can cover red spots very well.

Consistency: It is a very thick and creamy formula, this is very blendable. Because it is so thick, you have to be careful not to apply too much. Because this is a completely food grade, unrefined product, it is very susceptible to different weather conditions. In the summer, it is very easy to use, very creamy. However, in the cold winter months, it can get very dry and hard, so you need to use a hair dryer to really warm the product up. The nourishing and anti-ageing ingredients are perfect for under the eye area as it won’t dry up, but rather moisturize (don’t apply too much as it can crease. I would suggest the RMS “Un” powder, which is perfect to prevent creasing with this product).

Size: .20oz/5.67g. Even though the pot looks small, it last quite a while as you only need to use the smallest amount of product. Very great for travelling!

Recommend? Yes, but only used as an under eye concealer, due to the comedogenic ingredients. If your skin doesn’t react to coconut oil or the other ingredients, go ahead and use it all over for a healthy, natural glow!
